so i made a 2013 memories jar at the beginning of this year:
and all year i've been adding memories to it.
i had two goals: 1) don't talk about boys, and 2) only include happy memories. the first rule was merely a result of the new years resolution that i would become more independent (which i did), but i did break that first rule (but not in the way i intended to). i kept to the second rule.
i went through this jar with Maggie last week and let me just say that i am definitely doing this again this year. i've never been able to keep up with a diary, but this i kept going pretty strong until like mid-november. i had so many things in here i forgot about but was definitely happy to remember when i read them all again. the jar was also full to the brim, and that makes me even happier. in all, 2013 was a good year. it was certainly a year of growing, maturing, and figuring out what people and things are most important to me. i'm happy for the friends i've made and grown closer to and especially the friends that helped me become stronger.
at the end of 2012, i was a broken mess. 2013 made me realize that good things are always in store for the future. i kept adding things to a list of what i was looking forward to, and always had something to smile about. i'll always remember my trip to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter (and Ollivander picking me!), the year of concerts with Olivia (Taylor Swift, One Direction, 5SOS, Ed Sheeran on RED Tour and at my school), Taylor Swift singing Safe & Sound at my concert, the OTCAP beach trip, pledging Gamma Sigma Sigma, the year of camp-outs with my college friends, both my NYC trips this year, Taylor Swift jam sessions with my roommate, getting bangs, and all the midnight Wawa runs and deep talks on the way to class with Maggie.
so, as I kick off what i'm sure is to be a fantastic year with a month in London, i remind myself to think of 2013 as the year i started over, the year i learned about myself, and the year of the album Red on repeat. thanks for all you've taught me, 2013, it's been real.
