Raine of Hallowfort, dullahan eldritch knight

Dullahans are a rare sight in the Ya'rin setting. They bear a curse that persists in bloodlines, leaving them in a peculiar state halfway between life and undeath. Their skin is unnaturally pallid, and their head is not attached to their neck, unleashing an eternal blood-red flame in its place when removed.

Most people are unaware of the origin of dullahans, but will claim to have heard they're generally Bad News. With enough digging, one might learn of rumours claiming that they or their ancestors had committed sins so atrocious the gods themselves decided to punish them. Dullahans are thus frequently feared or mistrusted, also not helped by the fact that they are most often of human and/or high elven descent. These races are themselves rare in the three mainlands, with a dark history tied to the former empire of Sil, now sunken beneath the ocean.

Raine is a fresh graduate among the Bloodforged, a mercenary organisation that also serves as the army of the nation of Dalry. She's a bit like a mountain: large, chill and more on the quiet side. Unsurprisingly, she likes to keep her true nature hidden and thus her head attached, and generally doesn't talk about her background. However, she is far from being aloof or morose, and very much seems to enjoy life and company (especially that of Lynnestrae, her fellow merc and boygirlfriend-in-progress).

When a simple bodyguard job unveils a very politically and historically sensitive case of magic-based parental abuse among the nobility, and a coup plot by an overly ambitious member of the same family, Raine and her unit get a chance to meet the ancestor of all vampires, Queen Sybil herself - which in turn lands them in the direct employ of Her Majesty, as her informants and agents bypassing all the bureaucrats "protecting" her from upsetting news of turmoil within the nation...

Lex is finally running a new campaign in the Ya'rin setting, and I'll be playing this goblin pyromancy sorcerer, Pirta!

She's an energetic, sociable young adult living with her parents and two young sisters at a swampy homestead not far from a backwater town in the Dalry archipelagos, where they farm giant mushrooms and other swamp-grown goods. Pirta's emerging fire magic, combined with the fact she's not really the sharpest knife in the drawer (7 base int....) might be a rather good recipe for trouble, tempered only by her general goodwill towards people.

The campaign is set roughly 2 and a half centuries after the previous one, with many of our long-lived or immortal characters still alive, so meeting them as NPCs should be a lot of fun - though that's a long way off, as the campaign is set to have a much slower pace, so we're starting as literal country bumpkin baby adventurers and it will be a while until we get to go to The Big City.

What's funny is that my old character was also a goblin and a caster class, but Pirta is her exact opposite in mostly everything else, so playing her should prove... interesting.
