My third and final fic for the marvelous Mystrade Advent Calendar will be posted tomorrow and I’m strangely nervous. It’s mostly epistolary, which I don’t normally do, and I’m worried it won’t be very interesting, or very easy to follow. It now DEFINITELY feels too long.

IT’S HAPPENING! Day one of The Mystrade Advent Calendar!

Thanks everybody for following - we’re so excited to finally share all the magnificent content we’ve received with you. We’ve now had so many submissions that you’ll be getting at least two pieces of content every single day.

So let’s get going...!

Mycroft has always been painfully aware of the financial mismatch between himself and Greg. It's why he's initially delighted when Greg suggests a "five pounds or less" budget for Christmas. But it turns out creative gift-giving is much harder than Mycroft anticipated.

As December rolls around in their first shared home, Greg and Mycroft discover they have very different tastes when it comes to decorating for the season.

Greg's first Christmas after divorce is looking a little bleak. He decides to throw a drinks party in his new home to cheer himself up.

Mycroft Holmes is delighted one year to receive a Christmas card from Inspector Lestrade. He doesn't usually bother with the practice - but sets out to find the perfect one to send back.

Mycroft receives a mysterious (and very touching) Christmas gift from an admirer. He does the sensible thing - and immediately tasks Sherlock with discovering who it is.

Greg loves Christmas music. Mycroft hates Christmas music. May battle commence.

So Greg has never been the best at wrapping Christmas presents. He knows it should be easy, but somehow they all turn out a bit... haphazard. All he needs is a lesson from someone who knows how to do it right.

John sets up a Baker Street Secret Santa. Greg persuades him to rig it. (He really, really wants Mycroft.)

Greg's niece is desperately excited. Her favourite uncle has promised her this year's absolute must-have toy... only there's a problem. It's Christmas Eve and the damn thing is now sold out in every shop. In desperation, Greg turns to the only man in London with the power to track one down...

‘Specially because my muse has handed me a pretty ambitious idea (and now sulks if I even attempt to think of something else). It’s going to take me time to do, and my current projects are greedy. 

I also need to, y’know... set up the calendar.

I’ve just finished writing my fic for the Mystrade Advent Calendar, but I have 2 main concerns:

1. The ending feels awkward at best, horrible at worst.

2. It’s not christmas-y enough.
