A Topps trading card set revealed a full-resolution look at Zemoâs visual costume design for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (F&WS), set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)âs phase four, and debuting on Disney+ on March 19, 2021.

The Super Bowl trailer for F&WSÂ gave audiences glimpses of Zemo in action. The tone appears to confirm strong speculation that he will be a major MCU villain able to frustrate the heroes moving forward.
February 9, 2021: Gabe Frizzeraâs Favorite MCU Villain
Kabamâs creative director Gabriel Frizzera revealed on Twitter Tuesday night that his favorite villain from the MCU phases 1-3 was Baron Zemo.
In the comics, Zemo is not super-powered, but is a master spy and hand-to-hand combatant, often seen with a sword or German pistol. As one of the most iconic leaders of the villain team Masters of Evil, he is an important enemy of the Avengers. He is also the mastermind behind one of two famous teams of villains who went public as so-called superheroes.Â
Like Norman Osborn (Green Goblin, Red Goblin) who became the Iron Patriot to make himself the âIron Manâ of the Dark Avengers, Zemo reinvented himself as Citizen V, leader of the Thunderbolts.
Many will recall Zemo as the operative who successfully turned Iron Man and Captain America against one another in Captain America: Civil War.
MCU leads to MCOC. Summoners (gamers who play MCOC) care about the MCU because it tends to affect our game.Â
Unlike releases by other studios under license, cinematic releases of Marvel properties by Marvel Studios tend to drive MCOC champ design. It has even been theorized that some MCOC characters await the MCU.
As of this writing, Summoners are still waiting to learn whether Disney+ shows will be accompanied by corresponding MCOC champs.
Zemo MCOC Foretold. When F&WS was originally announced for an autumn 2020 release, in October 2019 I predicted that Baron Zemo might be released in conjunction with TF&TWS.Â
Since the release date was moved to March 2021, obviously that prediction adjusts accordingly.
A Kabam Favorite. Amid much speculation among Summoners that Zemo might be on his way, it could be important that Gabe Frizzera announced Zemo is his favorite MCU villain.Â
His timing serves to hype the possibility that Zemo will be a March or April champ in MCOC.
Champ Preview-ish? Obviously the Topps trading card gives Summoners a good idea what the Baron Zemo champ might look like. Thankfully his design is very similar to his look in the comics.
Future MCU Thunderbolts for MCOC? Zemoâs being a major phase four villain also inspired a fair amount of speculation that the Thunderbolts will enter the MCU.Â
This of course also has meaning for MCOC: Thunderbolts members in the top 100 most-wanted champs include Bullseye, Lady Deathstrike, Songbird (formerly the villain Screaming Mimi), Jack OâLantern, and Moonstone.
