W Korea debacle, Xdinary Heroes escaping from the ICU, NMIXX knocking Golden off the charts, and other kpop news
W Korea Breast Cancer Awareness Controversy So I know almost all of you have heard about the W Korea debacle at this point. For those who haven’t I’m generous enough to give you a rundown. W Korea held an event that was supposed to be about Breast Cancer Awareness and donated to a related charity foundation. When seeing inside the actual party from posts that both W Korea and the idols made though, there was no breast cancer advocacy to be found, and only idols drinking and playing music that was not event appropriate given the setting. Now, what I think is the issue at the end of the day is the organizers. I’ve told people this multiple times and every time they accuse me of “dickriding my favs” but all I’m trying to get across is that the organizers of the event had control over how everything went. The alcohol? Organizer can control that. Scenery and dress code? Organizer can definitely control that considering they allegedly kicked an attendee out for not having the right stockings. Appropriate music instead of Jay Park’s ass song? Organizers can control that. You guys need to realize holding people accountable doesn’t always mean finding an individual target to bully, it means finding who’s primarily responsible and making them take responsibility in however it would suit the scenario. Xdinary Heroes ICU comeback On other news Xdinary Heroes performed ICU on M-Countdown earlier this morning and that was great as usual though the music video and full EP isn’t officially out yet so I’m waiting with bated breath as is everybody else. I thought the song was pretty nice maybe not their best but the performance they gave was stellar so when it’s officially out I’ll get to reviewing. NingNing’s lava lamp made of actual lava No, it isn’t actually made of lava. That’d be sick as hell though, right? What I’m actually referring to is an old photo of NingNing having a lamp shaped like an explosion that some are interpreting to be an offensive message to Japanese fans. I have no comment on such nonsense because that’s clearly not what it is. NMIXX’s Blue Valentine reached #1 On MelOn After the KPDH OST Golden stayed at #1 on MelOn for a consecutive 99 days, Blue Valentine broke it’s streak by charting at #1 (funny since they just released a dance practice dressed as the Saja Boys not long ago for Spinnin’ On It but maybe that’s just me trying to make an arbitrary connection). I’m genuinely proud of the girls for finally getting the payoff after years of people ping ponging back and forth of whether or not they make good music (spoiler alter: it’s always been fine). I hope they keep this good streak for the rest of the year
MY K-POP WIRE at live: 6 “Beautiful Mind” Shone Brighter than the Fireworks at The Star Theater, Singapore
JYP Entertainment’s powerhouse band, Xdinary Heroes, bought down The Star Theater’s roof with their explosive and electrifying night filled with hard-hitting anthems, emotional ballads, and high-energy performances that made Villains up on their feet from the start till the end. The tour started in May at Olympic Park, Seoul, moving around Asia and will end in US with a total of 16 shows. Singapore is their 2nd visit since 2024 for Break the Break.
The concert started with the concert theme 'Beautiful Mind' and was followed by many other powerful songs – 'XYMPHONY,' 'FIGHT ME,' 'Paint It,' 'Bad Chemical,' to name a few – which brought the fans rocking and singing along. Fans had so much fun that they even stood during the ballad section, which brought the group leader, Gunil, to comment, “This is an unforgettable moment where I see Villains standing to the ballad section”.
The members showed off their music talents individually and the stand out was Gunil drumming and playing with the fans before starting the awesome Sucker Punch and surprised fans with their latest digital single 'FiRE (My Sweet Misery)'.
