"Which is why you made it up there to begin with!" Xaya yelled back, her hands coming to rest on her hips as she stared crossly at her younger siblings.  The eldest Candell had been walking home from her tutors house when she caught sight of them on the roof, the torn hem of her apprentice robe and mud splashed about her did little for her mood in the face of her sister's oncoming injury.  Or death.  "Gendry bring her down here now!"

Rey's brown eyes flashed with hot fire as she looked to her brother, despite being the youngest the shortest of the trio was fierce as cornered badger as she raised a finger at her brother.  "You touch me and I swear you'll wish you had wings."

Gendry gulped, the middle Candell looked nervously between the two as he tried to steady his footing on the slated tile roof.  Gen may have outgrown his younger sister and was on his way to surpassing his elder, but at this height he felt as big as a field mouse in the face of falling.  The blonde boy hated heights so much, how did Rey talk him into helping her drag this contraption up here?

Xaya threw her knapsack of textbooks aside as she began to grumble under her breath before pulling the robe over her head, her field clothes as they were supposed to go help Uncle Lan with the planting when she got home from school.  Folding the robe quickly as her grumbling turned into yelling over her shoulder as she tossed it inside the family home.  "Every damn day.  EVERY damn day, Reyomara.  Can you just for one friggun day not do something dumb!"

"Oh shit."  Gendry whispered as he began to slowly sit down on the roof, thinking perhaps if he was closer to solid step he'd be less likely to tumble off the edge.

"What?"  Rey muttered as she the kite on the roof and adjusted the makeshift landing pad she had cobbled together from an old wheelbarrow.  Her hands tracing over the canvas wings of her kite, a slight smile across her face at how well she had done.  For years the young girl had dreamed of flying one of the Pandaraen flying kites as they passed high above when they went further south for a town run.  Uncle Lan had been adamant in that was not going to happen any time soon.  One day he'd learned not to tell her she couldn't do something.

"Shes coming."

Rey stopped checking the wings as she peered over the edge of the roof.  "Oh shit.  Well time to go then."

"What?"  Gendry looked surprised as he watched his little sister clamber aboard her glider, her small feet setting into the feet braces before starting to wrap her hands and adjust the steering straps.

"Come on, Gen.  Give me a shove!"  Rey called over her shoulder as she leaned down to get comfortable on the chest brace.

"Rey, maybe we should listen to her."  Gendry looked over the edge again, quickly pulling his head back as he didn't see her but knew she was coming.

"Maybe we should listen to her," Rey muttered in dopey voice.  "And maybe you should just do your part and push!"

"Rey."  Gendry spoke warily before he began to edge forward, placing one foot on the end of the kite.

Rey growled and looked over her shoulder, but her words died on her lips as she saw the shadow looming over the top of the roof.  

"Don't.  You.  Dare."  Xaya spoke from her spot, hands on her hips again as she glowered down at them.

"Gen push."  Rey whispered to her brother.

"Uh."

"Gendry Candell, get your foot off that kite."  Xaya said as she began to climb down with the grace of a cat, which Uncle Lan always said reminded him of their father.

"Gen push me!"  Rey yelled down to coax her brother to do her will, her body shifting and pushing to help release her as well.

The middle Candell stammered a moment as he kept a foot on the kite and felt himself begin to slide forward.  "Oh no."

"Gendry!"  They both yelled at once as the boy finally panicked and shoved with both feet to push the kite from the roof with a scrape of wood and cracking tile.  The kite slid forward and off into the air.

Rey let out a long loud howl as she went sailing off into the air, pulling tight on the ropes as the glider began to dip before catching the wind.  With a soft woosh and drop of her stomach, Rey Candell had taken to the air.

Unfortunately so had Gendry Candell as he continued to slide off the roof.

Xaya lept forward in a flash, hand flying forward to grab her brother's wrist and swing him back into the house with a loud thump followed by a yelp.  Gritted teeth and raging eyes, the eldest Candell followed the kite as it glided through the air with the howls of triumph from her sister.  Both siblings followed the kite as it continued to follow it as it crossed afternoon sky, flying steadily onward toward the rice fields not far from their home.

"By the Light, she freakin did it."  Gendry said with a laugh as he struggled back up to the roof with Xaya's help.  His elder sister was not as pleased to see the fruits of their labors in act.  "What'd ya think?"

"What do I think?"  Xaya grumbled from the top of the roof as she watched the now descending glider.  "What I think is you forgot a key part to his venture."

"Oh?"

"Did she plan to land?"  Xaya grumbled as she turned away to climb down the roof again, Gendry's smile fading slowly as it dawned on him.  

"Shit."
