it doesnt work with how i envision his character now but the idea of a meta-referential/aware xander putting the pieces together and realizing hes not the hero or the villian or even the side kick of the story but the love interest and being THRILLED is too good for me
#oc talk#xander oc#nat oc#natsumi oc#i think its bad to try to deconstruct these main character syndrome narratives with one of your main characters#since they have a bigger weight narrative wise no matter what you do to subvert it#bojack horseman is a good counter example but it only really came together towards the end#and it has enough better stuff going for it that its just ONE of the points its trying to deliver#tOH is a straight forward example since luz is actually declared a chosen one in the last episode#even though the first few eps try to establish its 'not that kind of story' so it winds up being a misstep#i also just HATE using narrative tropes to try to ascribe meaning to your life as a real life personality trait#chuunibyou as hell!!!#hes in his mid 20s and has been going through the gauntlet of various urban legends and stories so hed be the first to say life doesn't hav#a narrative arc and sometimes shit just happens and you fuck up and make mistakes and trying to weave a narrative#is a quest in futility in order to make sense of something senseless and painful#'im not a mlp villain in need of redemption nat. im just a guy who royally fucked up a lot of things for a lot of people when he was 12'
