i wish i had a group of people interested in taking part of rebuilding somalia. All different sectors, education, health, agriculture, finance, construction, counseling. There is endless things to do for our people. It's frustrating that the somalia diaspora forget the purpose of our parents fleeing to foreign countries, it was for us to have a better life after they escaped the war. Our parents left to give us a opportunities and education to come back with the knowledge/skills we've gained to rebuild our country. But we've become so brainwashed and filled with propaganda of our own land/people and have become so disconnected from who we really are and what's going on in our lands and taken these new identities. Somalia is the most beautiful breathtaking place with the richest culture and history. We come from the most funniest selfless full of life people. Resilient that is felt at the face of each calamity. The naturalist of foods. Fruits, vegetables, crops you can’t find anywhere else. The clearest sea blue ocean. The bluest cloudless skies. What the nations of the world called “Somalia, The pearl of the Indian Ocean.” My time in Xamar was the best time of my life. I listen back to Somali songs/poems I was listening..well actually learned while I was out there and it brings me such happiness. Ya Allah bring peace to my land.

Black History is World History! In 1972 Somali women organized and held a protest in the Somali capital of #Xamar (also called #Mogadishu), demanding the release of #AngelaDavis, who at the time was incarcerated as a political prisoner in the United States. Our worldwide family has been supporting our struggles for generations, and we need to do the same. #ImmigrantHistory #HereToStay
