Aight, so here is what has me stressed out at the moment. Most people who know me know that I’ve been my mother’s sole caretaker for over a year and a half now. She’s got Alzheimer’s and can’t really do much for herself. I’m legally blind and have been flailing about and just trying my best not to go crazy… Legit I was unprepared for how difficult this would be. D: She doesn’t sleep much and likes to wonder and make messes… Transportation services through insurance are extremely limited and Uber is hella expensive. She’s still on the waiting list for extra assistance. I might have to pay out of pocket for senior daycare or an aid to help me bathe her and such. Last February I tried to get my mom more exemptions for the property taxes to save us some money, but this move kinda backfired and screwed us over… x__X I found out that her Green Card expired while her ex boyfriend was still living with us… (I kicked him out since he got his name on her bank account and was using her Social Security check to gamble…) They didn’t pay the house taxes/many other bills... So I paid the taxes from 2024 for her. Then began working through everything else. The property appraiser lady said that my mother was going to lose her existing exemptions if I did not renew her Green Card by the end of the month. So I asked my siblings for help. My older sister started filling out the paperwork, but did not finish in time. During the next few months I received a letter telling me that my mother was losing her homestead exemption. Since the paperwork was still incomplete I figured if I tried to fight it that my mother might get deported. (I regret not fighting it. Since they say there is nothing that can be done about the bill now. ;__; ) Again I asked my sister to try to fill out the form. I said I'd pay toe $400 something for it. This didn’t get completed until after I got the property tax bill in November which was 6.8k at the time. 0__O;... Then my mom had an appointment set up for December 26th, but some orange idiot decided to make that into a stupid holiday. So it got moved to January. She had to get her biometrics done for the card and they stamped the appointment letter as temporary proof of approval. So I’m going to use this during our appointment tomorrow Feb 26th at the property appraiser’s office. Hopefully I can get the 2026 taxes to be a more reasonable amount. Since this is ridiculous. I mean I am currently stuck with a bill for 7k. Which is more than half of my income for the entire year. Who the hell can afford that???? As a last resort, my sister set up a Gofundme, but I feel so awkward about it. I wish there was another way to handle this. Legit, if anyone has any advice for me I'm 100% down to listen. I'm not going to beg for donations, but if anyone has the means to help it would absolutely be appreciated.
