@wxlfish liked for a king Henry starter!
Henry paced the hall, today was the day he was to meet the woman his advisers had arranged for him to marry. He didn’t want this, he hated the idea of getting married off to further some other goal, but he no longer had the luxury to do as he pleased. Plegia was going through a hard time, and his advisers thought a marriage between him and a noblewoman from another country could help them get back on their feet. He silently wished the woman would be one of the nobles he met while with the Shepherds, like Lissa or Maribelle, at least he already knew them, though he soon remembered they were already married.
Finally, his advisers returned, telling him his future wife and queen had arrived. He followed them to the entryway, where the woman was waiting. An unfamiliar face greeted him. He wasn’t surprised, though he was a little disappointed, though he wouldn’t let it show in his expression. He was about to give her a comfortable, casual greeting, but a stern look from his advisor reminded him he wasn’t supposed to do that. He gave a silent sigh and choked out the greeting that had been rehearsed.
“Welcome to Plegia, Lady Vaudrei.” such a formal greeting felt foreign in his mouth, but they insisted he had to make a good first impression on the noblewoman. His face still had its usual smile plastered on, a friendly smile, at least.
“I am king Henry of Plegia. I trust your trip here was pleasant?” Ugh, so weird.
