No hope of flying anymore, the only thing lifting my legs away from the ground would be my stomach! And having such a long neck that's basically just storage for several thick fat rolls sounds like a mighty interesting experience! Perhaps softened by loving willing feeders, perhaps softened by constant offerings made by those who once appeased me out of fear, but now do so because they've seen how weak my unending gluttony has made me want to keep me that way. Either way, sounds like living the dream.

Chloe Kim at age 14 becomes the youngest athlete to win WXG Gold. Chloe is just a year older than Ryan Sheckler was when he won gold in skateboard streetpark back in the summer games of 2003. This after taking a nasty spill while practicing earlier. Kelly Clark who was looking to 5peat was relegated to silver as the California native snatched victory away from Kelly Clark with a score of 92.00 on her final run of the superpipe final.

Last Friday I was lucky enough to attend the fantastic Web Expo Guildford and get some serious inspiration from some awesome techies.
The expo had a range of talks that covered everything in the world of tech and web. There were two tracks of talks, Design and Dev, so designers, marketeers and developers could easily find something that suited their interests.
I won a ticket to the WXG, organised by web design agency Kyan, at the Rails Girls event in London that I attended at the beginning of October. You can read about that here.
The speakers at WXG were all informative and inspiring, but my favourite speakers were Seb Lee-Delisle, Gavin Strange and Frances Berriman.
Gavin Strange works for the digital team at Aardman Animations (the guys behind Wallace and Gromit). Through a torrent of energy and hilarious anecdotes, he shared his tales of creativity and passion. Gavin follows the tiniest spark of inspiration and showed us that there are 24 hours in the day so why hold back from making your ideas a reality.
Seb showed his amazing coding skills and how to build digital fireworks. He brought along a rather cool laser and showed us that computer science is pretty darn cool. The PixelPyros show that he has created showed how vision, drive and knowledge can get you where you want to be.
Frances shared her experience working on the Gov.uk website redesign and explained how to put the user first. At Taskhub, we are always interested in improving user experience so this was particularly valuable. Frances' story showed how you can take the most complicated of websites and make it user friendly by applying (and sticking to) key principles and guidelines.
The Web Expo Guildford was a brilliant day that gave me plenty of food for thought. It will be on again next year and I'd advise you to go along. The talk has some real takeaway value for anyone, not just people in the tech world.
Last Friday I got the chance to go to Web Expo Guildford Event. The conference was hosted at G-Live, Guilford.
Let´s start with Kat Kavanagh (also co-worker at FC and a great person!). Her talk was about doing prototyping first. Fun and engaging, she presented examples which proved how right is to begin with that step. She gave a quick prototype exercise (re-think the Noughts and crosses game with three players!) to make a point on how prototype can save lots of time discovering flaws, risks and what really makes users find -in this case a game- motivating.
It good to have in mind when designing the minimun requirement the web/game design has. This is important, because we as a designers can easily forget about this...!

Next on the design conference room was Paul Foster, from Getty Images. He presented a good contrast on how images changed from 2007... to now. Users need more (1) Authentic photos (The real thing! more emotion!). Today most of photos are taken with cellphones as we know, so it's all about participation and sharing... this users are the ones generating the content now a days. More successful selling photos are grouped into (1) be authentic, (2) have a cultural relevancy, (3) more sensory currency -this means more human contact, return to the craft and.... as we see on all the latest Tv shows, (4) archetypes powerful characted.
I had the chance to listen to Seb Lee-delisle -digital artist- talk about how coding can generate powerfull designs and instalations.
He presented his latest project (and presented a very cool laser controlled by code that hypnotized all of us!). Check his webpage & video. His projects are amazing!!

Very powerful and motivating was Garin Stange. This guy does everything -from interactive design UI / Games to illustration and design events.- Very inspiring talk!

Francis Berriman was very interesting, and presented how users where put first when re-designing the so complicated UK government site.
Will everyone please take two seconds to pray for Caleb Moore? He's a snowmobile rider who got hurt at the Winter X Games. He's in critical condition right now. Please just pray. The winter sports world already lost Sarah Burke last year. I don't know if they can handle two losses in the span of 1 year. Please...pray for Caleb.
