Honestly my chemical romance could not have picked a better time to come back, and I'm not even talking about the danger days/smashing pumpkins/shrek/teenagers theory. The idea that was mcr was created in 2001 when gerard way watched the twin towers fall and knew he had to do something, he had to change the world, and he did.
The people who would become the MCRmy were children and young adults when the war on Iraq and Afghanistan was declared, and they bore witness to all of it. The failing administration ignored the desires of the people. the youth of America were angry and afraid, especially when it was thought the draft might be reinstated. But through the shadow cast by the war, my chemical romance gave us a force to rally behind, someone who would listen. In a society that was constantly invalidating our feelings and opinions, and told us we had to keep smiling and put on a brave face. They told us that it was okay to be sad, or angry, or afraid. They told us it was okay to be not okay, and that they believed in us.
And now, here we are in 2020, in an unfortunately similar scenario. Our planet is falling apart at the seams and the threat of a global war looms over. Once again, we the youth, are fearing for our futures, and powerless to change them. With a similar worse administration taking power in late 2016, I think they knew a new generation was going to need them. 2019 was the year of the killjoys, and it was only the beginning. But the future might not be bulletproof, and the aftermath is now, but the roaring 20s belong to us. Mcr came back to tell us, if they could carry on, so could we. Not just the MCRmy, all of us.
So killjoys make some fucking noise, cus now its our turn to change the world.
