The World War II Memorial on the National Mall is a beautiful oval memorial with beautiful stone and brass art to honor the 16 million that served, the 400,000 that perished during the conflict and the countless other here stateside that supported the war effort. This memorial opened in 2004 as a monument to the amazing spirit, sacrifice and commitment of the United States of America considered the defining event of the 20th Century.
