a wulver is a cryptid/legend originating in the Shetland Isles of Scotland. unlike werewolves who can transform into their canine forms, a wulver remains in a half transformed state with the head of a wolf and body of a man/human (It’s been widely agreed they were never ‘human’ to begin with and have always existed in their half transformed state). they live secluded lives in the wilderness or mountains of the Isles and are benevolent in nature unless provoked. wulvers were known to help lost travelers find their way back onto their desired paths, often seen fishing on cliffsides, and leave said fish and food on the windowsills of those who did not have the means to feed themselves! they keep to their own but are quite kind if the situation calls for it.

they’re one of my absolute favorite cryptids/myths and are the most real world example of what therianthropy means to me—a kindhearted canine being who enjoys helping others is what my wolf brain is all about :)
