— what is your most embarrassing moment?
( also asked by @wsjordan & @seoljiws ! )
“ um . . . my whole first year of being in phoenix ?? okay maybe that’s an over-dramatization , but i don’t know if we realize just how bad that was. i had a bad quiff , i still thought “ hail ” was a cool stage name , and - don’t even get me started on the way i used to introduce myself. i was even more immature back then, and ten times worse at hiding it. i think the most embarrassing part is that when news got back to my high school that a former student was debuting in an idol group , it was this huge deal and they had me take a picture to put up in the school. so now there’s a photo - framed and all - of younger me , in the is whole hypebeast outfit, hanging up in the performing arts hallways , and haunting me for life. don’t think i can live that one down. ”

“ my idea of success is pretty simple, actually. it’s just . . . happiness. i want to be at the point where the happiness brought to me by the things i have achieved on my bucket list outweighs the happiness of the things i haven’t achieved. so it’s not that i want to do everything i have a desire to do, just enough to make me feel fulfilled. but i’d love to own my own house someday and have a family with really cute kids. even better , with phoenix still close , and we all visit each other and make sure our kids are close ! that would be the life. ”
2. What would you be doing if you weren’t an idol/musician? ( also asked by @saeromws )
it’s something that yurim has thought about before especially since she never planned on becoming an idol in the first place. it’s also a question that she’s received plenty of times during her career. for some reason, people seemed to be really interested in what idols would be if they never got to debut. she could never figure out exactly why. “i’d probably be a college student? graduated if i didn’t take any semesters off, but my friends tell me that everybody takes time off once they get to college.” the way she’s been living her life has been so vastly different from how her regular friends live their lives, and she can only live vicariously through their stories. “probably majoring in art or design.”
21. Is there anything about yourself that you would never change?
now this question was a little more interesting than the others she’s gotten in the past. yurim takes a moment to think about herself. there were a lot of things that she liked about herself, as cocky as that sounded. though truthfully, she doesn’t think she’d have remained an idol if there wasn’t at least one thing she was proud of about herself. “my self confidence. or is that too big of a category?” she asks as a chuckle escapes her lips. yurim realizes that the question was probably asking for a single trait or something, but she thinks her high self confidence is worth being proud of. “to be more specific, it’d be my ability to think of the better things in life.”
“Etoile!” There wasn’t even a moment of hesitation as the group’s name came out of his mouth. He scrambled for his phone, proudly showing the decorated Harin photocard in the back of his phonecase. It was from last year’s Dazzle Dazzle comeback, with rhinestone stickers and blue washi tape. He flipped the phone over, turning unlocking the phone to show his personal chart. As always, Fancy ranked number one. “Etoile is my favorite artist.”
“Number two would be...oh ranking is hard. In no particular order, okay? I do love all my company seniors. Crescent and Phoenix hyungs always look so cool on stage and they’re all so nice to me! Ladybug is really cool too, although I prefer a refreshing and cuter concept." He paused to think for another moment. “Oh! I also like Ariana Grande! Her voice is so pretty and I like her ponytail. It’s so cute!”
Q: Are there any artists you would like to cover/collaborate with in the future?
Minho giggled. “Would I be too much of a BonBon if I said Etoile again? They’re my favorites! I want to do Eung Eung. It’s so classy and lovely.” He paused, frowning for a moment. “Would I look too tall next to them? I’ve been told my limbs can be kind of gangly. It’s okay, though! That’s even more room for hugs!”
He clapped his hands together. “But, ummmm, if I had to choose someone else to collaborate with, then it would definitely be Seolji noona! Bloom! Our music styles are very different, but she has major charisma on stage. I think I could definitely learn a lot about performing and singing from her! It would be pretty fun, like vanilla and chocolate ice scream swirls!”
11. What was your favorite and least favorite comeback era?
it's hard to think about a favorite one when every comeback has had this one thing that kiha loved, but it also had something that didn't quite sit well with him. from very nice which he loved the song and the concept but then he thought the choreography was a nightmare especially when they were trying to get everyone in sync. they were trainees for god's sake, he personally thinks that my pace could've been a much better debut song to miroh that even though it was he liked the choreography and the concept ok, even the song besides— argh, besides when he remembers the roars in it and then kiha wants nothing more than to curl on himself because of how it makes him cringe. but he supposes the one who gets the prize of his least comeback in general is—
"cherry bomb. oh god, i very strongly disliked cherry bomb." he can't help how he scrunches his nose. "i don't like the song," too hip hop heavy for his taste, can't help but also cringe whenever he hears i'm the biggest hit on the stage. "i don't like the outfits." at least not his owns. "and the concept, the concept was—" he sighs. "the whole swag thing, it was just not my thing i guess." and this is kiha trying to be nice because he knows that jordan and many other people worked hard on every step and part of that comeback so he can't bring himself to even say that he hated it, can't really not mention that this is all his opinion, that he was the one not being able to fully buy the whole concept and song and everything about that era and also point out— "but haeil hyung was great in it so i guess it wasn't the worst comeback we had."
"and there was your verse too that was great." he feels the need to add because he doesn't want jordan thinking that he hated the song because he had a part on it. of course that they're past the time that those sort of small misunderstandings could arise so easily, but also it's just in case.
and then— "i think miroh might be my favorite comeback yet." his voice turns a little softer before he turns a little stiff, like he's forcing himself to be about about his feelings and thoughts as he'd be with any other phoenix's member that doesn't have the sort of... rocky history like he has with jordan. "not only because it's our first win that i'll personally never forget, but it's the first—" his hands fidgets on his lap when he looks down, confesses almost shyly. "it's the first comeback that we didn't have to pretend that nothing was wrong on stage. even during the preparations for it, it was... lighter, more enjoyable. it felt nice."
21. Is there anything of yourself that you would never change?
"usually people ask if there's something that i would change not what i wouldn't, you know." kiha tries to lighten up the mood with playful words, his voice filled with a teasing tone, especially when he might've just opened his heart a little more than what he's used to with jordan just a couple of moments ago. but it still doesn't feel intrusive, it's not something that kiha is used to, but surely it doesn't make him uncomfortable — not as uncomfortable as he'd feel if it were someone else, as if jordan asked him before their big talk. it's just new, and this new isn't bad.
"but yes, this might sound very cliche but my affinity with music." he even smiles when he answers. "music has opened a lot of doors for me, both in my professional career — ir more like it is my professional career — because because it allowed me to connect with one of the most important people in my life, it allowed meet me nine other amazing guys even if i didn't get along with all of them at once." which is regrettable sure, but at least he and jordan get along somewhat now, they're making this work now like it should and that's what matters. "it allowed me to have a dream and most important: pursue that dream."
"and since i don't see that dream changing — so soon at least — then this is the part of myself that i wouldn't change either."
