MC: I don't know if I could.

Villain: Why don't we rehearse then?

MC: Because I am the scared. I'm a wuss. I'm not fit to be a... Hold on. [Turns to fourth wall] Hey you!

Me: What?

MC: What are you thinking? I would never say that.

Me: Uhhh

MC: Stop it with the fake a** dialogue. You call yourself a writer? Look. We both know I have self-esteem issues, but I'm not a dork like you. Okay?

Me: Okay. Then, how would you say it?

MC: *gestures to villain*

Villain: *clears throat* Why don't you rehearse then?

MC: *inhales* If you believe in me. Then I guess...*picks up a knife* I could try. But...don't say I didn't warn you if I end up sucking.

Me: *starts typing* Well dayum. Maybe you should write my garbage.

MC: Apparently!

Villain: *stabs MC*

MC: (wide-eyed) *looks at fourth wall* Wh-wh...

Me: I'm sorry, my child. O_O But I'm still figuring things out. Don't worry though. It's just the second draft. Btw, I'm demoting you to minor character. Also, you'll survive...kind of... you'll be a zombie.

mc: *cries* I thought...I was special... *dies*

Me: *CTRL A* *CTRL C* *click* *CTRL SHIFT DOWN* *CTRL V* *CTRL S* *sips tea*

We've all been there, piggy! Lettering my comic. I do a little editing as I letter, but just as with my pencil layouts I try to bang it out quickly so my first pass at the dialogue is spontaneous. But I always give it a fresh rereading the next day then edit for clarity and all that stuff. Writing Tip Day 58👇👇 One of the best and easiest ways to reveal a character's backstory too is to do it via dialogue. You don't necessarily have to sit down and lay it all out in chunks, that's actually pretty overwhelming when writers do that. No, a good way to do it is to have a comment here, a reaction there, maybe a few lines of explanation through interactions with other characters.
