some people may not have access to other writing systems or strictly have a phone. so i have taken some time to give everyone some apps/sites i have used while writing my books. :) free to use reblog with any other recommendations that are friendly for IOS/ANDROID/LAPTOP/DESKTOP.
DISCLAIMER: Many of these apps/websites have adapted to using AI. We all know it’s something we cannot get rid of due to the popularity of AI and definitely can’t run away from. If you do end up, using any of these recommendations, please be wary of the use of AI but you can avoid using it while working on these apps/websites. All of my recommendations are coming from a person that does have Apple products so if you are an android user, you can also reblog this and add friendly, android apps, for our fellow android phone users. I also have downloaded the apps mentioned from my app store to check if you do have to have monthly subscriptions.
This is a very popular website and app that I have used while formatting my very first book. although, this is not free. It’s still a great website to have in case you want to have your things protected. $23.99 in the app store and I want to assume its the same for android users as well. If you do not wish to spend the money do not invest into this one.
This is an app that is a companion for Scrivener. I have downloaded it just to test it out myself. It does flat out direct you to a 3 day trial of $1.99 (a month) that includes an AI assistant so be wary of this feature.
It’s an app/website and very versatile. I have used it mainly for character outlines but it is easy and free. if you do end up paying for extra features, you do pay for the ai features. so make sure you read the plans before upgrading.
I have used this once before it is very organized and very helpful for anyone who loves to have things mapped out. Yearly subscription: $39.99. Monthly subscription: $5.99. Includes 7 day free trial.
I mainly use this for school work to format certain writing assignments but it is very helpful and it’s free.
Found on Apple Store. This is an app I have not tried out yet. I have downloaded it to understand the format. This is probably the most cheapest plan I have seen for a writing app. Monty subscription $1.99. Three months subscription $3.99 (originally $5.99 marked down 33% for a limited time) One year subscription $11.99.
Recently started using this but it is strictly a website so if you do not have access to a laptop would be way more harder, but you can access it through mobile browsing. It is in beta testing right now, but it is free for anyone to use. I personally would probably recommend this one to everyone, but I know that everyone doesn’t have the privilege of owning more than one device.
FINAL NOTE: If you’d like to add any other writing websites or apps that would be great! As I said in my disclaimer, I’m not going to repeat it once again and I’m not going to argue with people. Many people have always used Google Docs since they also don’t have the privilege of spending money on a subscription or many also don’t own a device such as a desktop/laptop. Let’s keep that in mind before anyone starts hashing out anyone for using Google Docs before this whole news of works being deleted etc. With what has been going on with AI in general, it has affected the writing community, but we can also make sure we don’t use those features when we are using these apps or websites.
