it's been a while (two years!!) since i've done a writeblr reintro, can you believe it? not a lot has really changed, but i have some new projects and professional developments to share, so here's to anyone who's new or simply looking for a reminder of the vibes!

I'm ashirisu (she/they) and I'm a fiction writer/editor based in the PNW. I'm a massive nerd for storytelling in all of its forms, and just about every hobby I have relates in some way back to writing, consuming, or (hyper)analyzing works of fiction.

I'm here to connect with more writers like myself who got their start in fandom spaces and are working to take their writing from a hobby into a career. I see you, I am you, I love you, let's be friends!

For what is ostensibly meant to be a writeblr, there's precious little writing on this blog. I'm trying to get better about sharing pieces that I don't intend to put on submission (since a lot of lit mags have strict rules about what constitutes a reprint and it's just easier to keep things in the vault), but most of what you'll likely see is reblogs and additions to advice and resource posts, as well as silly little posts about my process and the overall vibes of my writing.

My goal is really just to be able to talk shop with other writers without needing to filter everything through a marketing lens. I landed on tumblr because it's one of the last platforms out there that isn't overly reliant on algorithms and micro-trends, and also because I've been here in some form or other since 2011 and old habits die hard.

There will also be a lot of non-writing related posts and reblogs because I simply do not have it in me to run multiple side blogs!!! I'm sorry!!! I just want to laugh at silly jokes and be gay on main!!! So if you know me from work, no you don't!!!

I write primarily flash fiction and short stories, and my favorite genres are SFF, romance, and horror. Regardless of length or genre, all of my work features queer, neurodivergent protagonists in various states of emotional crisis.

I also do this professionally! I have a few craft books out, as well as a quarterly newsletter you can check out for more discussions and resources and such. I'll sometimes talk about that here, but I try to be chill bc I want y'all to think of me as a Cool™ editor.

Agnomen: My sci-fi reimagining of Hamlet and Coriolanus, currently in the first (official) draft stage. It's the only project that I've ever completed a zero draft for, and I'm determined to turn it into a functional novel/novella!

D&D: Many of my shorts feature my D&D PCs. My current active PC is Leda, a reborn Circle of Stars Druid who is the saddest, loneliest girl in the world whose only friend for the first twenty-something years of her life was xenoanthropology. You'll also likely see a lot of Baz (my previous PC, a human Wild Magic Barbarian with chronic Eldest Daughter Syndrome) and Cass (my CoS PC, a very hot and very haunted cowboy).

My name is Cassian but I also accept Viscera as a nickname. My pronouns are he/him and I am rapidly approaching year 22 on this earth.

I have been writing since I was 8, so about 14 years now, but am still constantly evolving and learning and developing my skills - like any artist!

I've written primarily fanfiction for most of my life, but I have MANY ocs and original wips and I think 2025 is the year of finally focusing on them!

For original fiction, I write primarily fantasy, modern with magic, or hidden fantasy settings. I'm also discovering my love for writing erotica and filthy nasty sex, so that's ... what a lot of my wips feature or center around nowadays!

You can read my original work on AO3 here, and I am working to build a neocities site to cross-post on.

I still write a lot of fanfic, but the majority of it is rpf/band-based and not usually something I'm comfortable sharing here - though you're welcome to ask about it still if that strikes your fancy!

I also love music and will probably be talking about it often in relation to my characters & wips .<3

I host the @writeblrsummerfest every year, have been on writeblr for a very long time, am a professional ghostwriter and dev/con editor, and constantly tell myself 'next month, I'll get my act together.'

My big dream is to get to a point where I can start taking my mother traveling some, and if my username seems vaguely familiar, it may be from that one time I briefly went viral on Tumblr for pulling a litter of two day old kittens out of a very, very deep storm pipe (we still have one of them)!

Hey everyone ♥ It's me! Just with a new blog and a fresh coat of paint. The old intro had gotten so old that it was time for a new one anyway, so let's dive into it with some random facts about yours truly~

I'm in my late 20s, sapphic, and have many hobbies that I love juggling.

My favourite novels include the Vagrant by Peter Newman, Before the Coffee gets Cold by Kawaguchi Toshikaze and Clara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro. I'm always on the lookout for new stuff to read, so please send me your recs!

My last year at uni has been wild because I could write papers about how the gay animals in Beastars deal with human social issues and about how the nature in Breath of the Wild isn't wild at all. For my thesis I got to write about how girls being sacrificed to magically solve climate crises isn't very feminist, which was also very fun.

I play piano and violin, predominately Chopin, Sakamoto and a collection of game/film stuff (piano arrangements from the Nier games may break my fingers, but that is a sacrifice I'm willing to make.).

Apart from those hobbies I like to play games (Final Fantasy, League, indie stuff like Celeste etc.), boardgames, dnd and watching films!

I like to write haiku and tanka, which I usually post on my sideblog @colombette.

I'm a microbiologist in real life and sometimes that does bleed into my writing because few things are as viscerally horrifying as some microbes.
