Burial's South London Boroughs paved the way for his eponymous album debut, where Mr. Bevan upgraded his soundscapes. They resemble those on his introductory EP, true, yet they also represent a great leap forward for him. The themes of his remains, his hauntology becomes stronger as he captures the late night bleary-eyed mood on the disc quite well. Moreover, one notices a large dosage of a certain nostalgia on Burial, though the latter mood never feels oppressive, because there's something quite uplifting about his work here despite the darkness of his sonics. Maybe Burial uses the hauntology in a way of Ryuichi Sakamoto, i.e. he deconstructs the past, and the present, in order to lead us into the future with a greater scope.
