My inner child represents joy, creativity, innocence, and curiosity. Growing up in an emotional detached and unsupportive family, and also becoming a parentified child, really disconnected me from discovering what brings me joy. I know I love books, I love reading, I love music and TV. But when I look back, these are things I just used to escape. So what really brings me joy? Honestly, I’m still learning. So how do I honor my inner child? I think about childhood in general, and I see a lot of laughter, a lot of play, a lot of curiosity. I see a willingness to try new things without judgement (have you ever seen a child play an instrument without shame just because it’s fun?). Part of becoming more self-aware and raising my consciousness has been to discover what really brings me joy. I’ve found this in my pets, game nights, video games, and arts & crafts. But sometimes I get so wrapped up in “adulting” that I put joy on the back burner. I’ve noticed that during the weeks I just work, work, work, work I’m miserable. I’m stressed. I’m irritated. I’m pretty much my mother 🙃 But on the weeks I incorporate some fun (playing animal crossing, reading fiction, watching TV) I’m less reactive. I go about my days with a sense of ease. So all of this to say, find little ways throughout your week to add joy and curiosity into your life. (Of course, this list is just a few of the many things you can do. And if you don’t know what brings you joy, that’s okay! Part of the fun about life is trying things out and seeing if they align with you.) . . #innerchild #reparenting #innerchildwork #innerchildhealing #woundedinnerchild #sparkjoy #curiosity #selfcompassion #selflove #selfcare #selfhealing #healing #healingjourney #creativity #childlikewonder #childhood #childlikefaith #motherwound https://www.instagram.com/p/CGGMxMhgnw1/?igshid=zerz04qxji6d
