Was watching a recentish YT interview with Shingeki no Kyojin’s editor, who’s been with Isayama since the guy was 19 y.o. and wow... can all editors be like that.
Q: what did you do after the 1st oneshot? A: told sensei he needed to learn to draw for a year before the next oneshot
Q: how did you decide on a plot/backstory? A: every meeting I brought him 50 to 100 questions about the plot, characters and worldbuilding. If he couldn’t answer some questions straight away I’d add them to the next meeting
etc etc. Interestingly, the editor said he pushed Isayama to think the plot through in its entirety as early as they possibly could, and then they kept fiddling with the details, characters’ motivation etc. There’s been a rumor going around that the editor forced Isayama to make the manga longer to milk it more, but after watching the interview I personally don’t think so (apparently Isayama just requires extensive supervision).

i kinda want to be 26, living in southern california, wearing muscle tanks and rock climbing on the weekends, while teaching french at a private school (bc lbr no one learns french in socal let alone in socal pub schools) and wearing short sleeve button ups. i kinda want to be 26 living outside of new york city teaching french and being among my new england a hole colleagues
