Lotus Bloom is a freelance thief who uses her training as a kunoichi to steal mystic and valuable artifacts for her sponsor. She meets the turtles when they interrupted one of her heists. Leonardo caught her attention for being only one to have the skills to keep up with her. Acknowledging his ability, she steals his shuriken and thus starts their weird rivalry.

Lotus Blossom only appears in the 1987 show and I wanted to give her a more significant role for my Wottmnt iteration.

Context: When April learns she missed Raph’s birthday, she sneaks the turtles into her school to use the pool. Having grown closer after their latest showdown with the Purple Dragons, Raph tells April the reason behind his views on humanity.  

Raph has a lot of anger when it comes to humanity and still believes most humans are awful. Meeting April has opened his mind to the possibility that there are some people who are decent. This shift in perspective is the foundation future friendships. 💀🏒

Context: When April learns she missed Raph’s birthday, she sneaks the turtles into her school to use the pool. Having grown closer after their latest showdown with the Purple Dragons, Raph tells April the reason behind his views on humanity...

One of Raph’s earliest memories is sneaking out with Donatello when they were young. They were discovered by a group of humans who found pleasure in harassing the turtles. Don and Raph tried to fight back but were beaten down. Splinter saved them but not before Donatello was thrown off a bridge, resulting in his shell cracking.

Donatello’s recovery was a distressing time for the family, they were barely established in their lair and had limited resources. Don would have died from an infection if Splinter didn't steals medical supplies. The incident cemented Raph’s anger towards humans and the threat they posed to his family.

The Purple Dragons are a major antagonistic gang for the turtles in the Way of the Teenager.

When the Purple Dragons vandalize Second-Time-Around, the turtles and April go on the counterattack. This incident leads to the turtles first encounter with mutants like them.

Unfortunately, Bebop and Rocksteady are jerks.

The Way of TMNT April

The turtles are used to living in the shadows, watching society from afar, until they meet their first human friend, April O’Neil. Being oddball herself, April understands what it is like to not fit in. April is a strong-willed firecracker, seeking out thrills and mysteries. She’s task-oriented, passionate, and dedicated. Because of her single minded focus, it can lead to her acting impulsively and getting into to trouble.

In Way of the Teenager, April is investigating the death of Sunita’s mother. April researches about Dr. Kavitha’s work and TCRI but the trails lead to dead ends. April decides to find unconventional leads through investigating urban legends, believing she could find evidence of animals impacted by the toxic waste. When April meets the turtles, she finds her strongest connection to TCRI’s toxic waste spill.

The Way of TMNT Irma Langenstein

Irma has been April’s friend since grade school. She has a fairly a morbid and pragmatic outlook with a dry sense of humor. She cares little about conforming to society. Despite her prickly demeanor, Irma is fiercely loyal to her loved ones. Irma’s introversion will not save anyone from her verbally destroying them with her sharp tongue delivered in the most deadpan tone.

Irma and April go to the same academy for high school and room together in the dorms on the weekdays. Irma is initially the only one who knows April is investigating Dr. Kavitha’s death and leads on TCRI. Irma disagrees with April’s endeavor; concerned April will only hurt herself and Sunita by digging up the past. Regardless, Irma keeps April’s secret, covering for her whenever April sneaks out of their dorm room.

Context: Raph and April have a falling out which leads to the turtles not seeing April for a while. Tensions are high between the brothers, especially Donatello and Raph. Mikey gets tired of the fighting and makes his brothers visit April to talk, but they find her family shop destroyed.
