If I had a nickel for every time a fantasy MMO I played, based off of an existing game franchise, fully and explicitly tried to force me to simp for some vaguely french knight with family ties to some holy sword of "The Light" over the evil white-haired necromancer lord who killed and resurrected me, I would have two nickels, but it's still weird that it happened twice.
(Granted I will gladly take Darion over Darien. And Ashmaker is far less obnoxious than Dawnbreaker.
Also at least with WoW the necromancy themed class does mean something- and y' know... You do get to actually serve Arthas for a bit in the DK tutorial. ZoS could never. A whole expansion dedicated to Mannimarco returning and fucking Meridia (who wasn't even present) played a larger role than him in the story.
Solstice was a let down for me, I can't lie. Getting into warcraft and going through the Wrath stuff has me really, really feeling it. Even if blizzard has kinda shit all over their own content off and on lately...)
