Hello I got Amy AU disease from @anendangeredspecies 's post about how Amy being raised by Marquis turns out and I had to write this (I guess it's more about Marquis than Amy but whatever here it is)
Brandish mortally wounds Marquis during their fight. Amy witnesses this and triggers. While the Brigade is reeling from the psychic trigger backlash, Amy heals Marquis and he's able to drive them off.
Marquis raises Amy as a villain, he keeps her and her power hidden as best he can. She's never introduced to his associates but there are signs.
A local hero starts turning a blind eye to Marquis's activity. In a fight, they outright let some of his henchmen go. Their teammates confront them about it, they say nothing. A week ago, their close family member was released from the hospital. The doctors called it a miracle.
The mayor of Brockton Bay shows up to the start of the next election cycle with a full head of hair and a spring in his step. People say he looks ten years younger. In a year he will be investigated when two million dollars is found missing from the city's budget. They will find nothing conclusive.
Marquis's underlings who fail him still disappear from time to time. But now some of them start coming back. They look the same. They aren't.
Since Hero!Jack Slash seems to be making a momentary resurgence around here this seems like a good time to pitch my favorite free-floating pathetic wet-rat situation in which to stick him (assuming his status as the inept leader of a band of z-list vigilantes rather than a protectorate-backed hero):
A sequence in which he gets abducted and trapped in a torture basement by a group of completely unpowered goons, before being forced to fight his way free with a series of increasingly-cumbersome blunt objects (chair leg, loose brick, can of expired soup, folding chair, overloaded cardboard box, rubber mallet) and every object of convenience he grabs is just a few inches closer to him than something he could much more easily use his power on

Rocky makes a Gworm translator because he can hear him, but no one else can.
Gworm is missing the tip of his tail so he has a bandaid on it
