#Deforestation in #Brazil's #AmazonRainforest rose sharply in April, according to data from Brazil's National Institute for #SpaceResearch. In the first four months of the year, Amazon deforestation was up 55% from a year ago to 464 square miles - about the size of #LosAngeles. The Amazon is the world's largest tropical #rainforest, and #scientists say its preservation is vital to curb #globalwarming because of the vast amount of #greenhouse gases it absorbs. This #restaurant in #Amsterdam has come up with an idea that could combine dining with #socialdistancing rules – small glass booths for two to three #diners. It includes waiters wearing gloves and #faceshields, and using a long board to bring dishes into the glass cabins while keeping a safe distance. But the concept is currently only being trialled on friends and families of the restaurant, as #Dutch restaurants remain closed until at least May 19.
