Every single time Greta Thunberg tweets in Swedish there are anglophones asking (quite rudely) for the English version while everyone else has made use of the translation button/a translation app. Same thing with artists speaking in their native language, with fics, with sources, with pretty much everything. Some Americans/British people are so entitled and unaware of their privilege. They do not realise the whole world and social media revolve around them and English. They do not realise they're the only ones who do not have to make any effort to communicate, anywhere, at any time in their lives. And this I wouldn't care about if on a personal level I'm not repeatedly asked to translate what I'm saying/to choose English. Even though I adore English, stop thinking English is more important than other languages and people should speak it to you. If you don't understand something, you learn it, you research it. It's okay not to know, it's not to wait for/expect others to make the effort. It's an effort everyone makes.
