âFlushâ is another that confused me as a kid cause the first thing I think of when I think of âflushâ is flushing something down the toilet, so a sentence like âher face flushedâ would make me think of a personâs face paling immediately, like mentally changing it to âher face flushed of all colorâ instead of what it actually means

It's easy to see Laudna wrestle with her thoughts, the way her body moves, the twitch of her fingers, the reflexive bite of a lip.
âI suppose,â she starts with a sigh, letting her body sag towards Imogen with a little laugh, wrapping hesitant hands around Imogenâs wrists where they sit, brushing strands of limp, dark, hair from her pale face, âWe both learned to use your telepathy as a crutch.â

Confused, tired and anxious, Imogen and Laudna make good on their promise to stay the night at Zhudanna's and use the time wisely
"open place where rocks are excavated," late 14c., quarrei (mid-13c. as a place name), from Medieval Latin quareia, a dissimilation of quarreria (mid-13c.), literally "place where stones are squared," from Latin quadrare "to make square," related to quadrus "a square," quattuor "four" (from PIE root *kwetwer- "four"). Quarry-faced, of building stones, is "rough-faced, as though taken right from the quarry" (1849).The word mine is generally applied to the excavations from which metals, metalliferous ores, and coal are taken ; from quarries are taken all the various materials used for building, as marble, freestone, slate, lime, cement, rock, etc. A quarry is usually open to the day : a mine is generally covered, communicating with the surface by one or more shafts. [Century Dictionary]

I had a very quiet, self educated child and teenhood. Because of that, my vocabulary came from my books and I don't know the 'standard' pronunciation for some of the weirder and uncommon words.
My partner will make fun of my pronunciation and we'll argue over how to say things. I remember a specific incident with peridot, the gemstone. He says it "pair-uh-doe" and I do "pair-uh-dot".
Have you ever had to throw hands over someone telling you that you were saying a word wrong?

Eric Kripke says that he got the name for Supernaturalâs first angel character by googling âAngel of Thursday.â Because the show aired on Thursdays.
Nowhere lists âCastielâ (or anything close to Castiel) as the âangel of Thursdayâ but the influential 1994 kabbala/medieval grimoire mashup A Dictionary of Angels says the âAngel of Thursdayâ is Sachiel.Â
I am 99% sure that Kripke found this name, flipped the two consonants to get Cashiel (possibly testing the waters, not wanting to use the name of an actual angel case people got mad) then changed up the spelling slightly to make it easier to pronounce.
However, there is a historical angel named Cassiel. Not sure Kripke knew this.
Cassiel exists in both Islamic and Jewish traditions, so the name has about 40 different spellings and half of them start with Q. It also gets translated a bunch of ways - main ones are âspeed of godâ âanger of godâ and (symbolically I guess) âfire of god.âÂ
Anyway, my point is I think the Supernatural writers began identifying Castiel with specifically Cassiel. This would explain their really, really weird insistence on spelling Castielâs nickname âCassâ instead of âCas.â It also helps with translating the stuff Cas writes on Deanâs ribs. He sure seems to be referring to himself as âangel of fire.â [1]
Cassiel is also big character in famous German arthouse film Der Himmel ĂŒber Berlin (English title: Wings of Desire) and its American remake City of Angels. Both of those films seem to have been pretty big influences on the way Supernatural angels look and work. And the character Cassiel is extremely torn between his angelic nature, and his love for humanity. So I guess the writers thought that was appropriate. Â

These arenât rounder or more footbally than other lentils. Cause I have seen footballs and I have seen American footballs and neither one is remotely pink or disc-shaped, or tastes good in soup. Protein contentâs not great either.
Google is not especially helpful. Every time I read âalso called âfootball,ââ itâs followed, as if by way of explanation, with âthe skin is removed, leaving the inside portion intact.â Is this something we do with footballs? What am I not getting?
