Get Woodguarded
Here’s a handmade solution to road and muck spray – Woodguard fenders crafted by Edinburgh-based furniture designer Simon Muir. Each is custom made out of a choice of finishes, using a mix of reclaimed timber and brightly coloured formica.
Various sizes are available from baby Brompton wheels up to 700c, 27-inch and 29ers, but cabinet craftsman Simon will take on custom builds if he has time. Widths vary too, but the ones we show here are a recent super-narrow addition to the range ideal for our kind of bikes.
Order, then, for a vintage restoration that you’re not too afraid to use in a rain shower. And especially for those early frames designed for 27-inch wheels that leave quite a gap to fill when running a pair of modern 700s.
