Jin Zixuan just sighed, and brought one hand up to rub at his temples. “Detectives Wei and Jiang will be in charge of the case,” he intoned. “Don’t do anything to piss off Lan Xichen. If I hear that you’ve misbehaved in the slightest way, I’m putting you on archives duty for the next month.”
“It’s very hurtful how you look only at me when you say that,” Wei Wuxian said earnestly. “Considering that I’m your best detective.”

Lan Xichen, as the head lawyer in charge of the Wen corruption case, has been receiving death threats. Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng, as the best detectives in the precinct (unless you ask Jin Zixuan) get assigned to be in charge of security. Lan Wangji, also a lawyer, gets pulled into their investigation.
