“How many of them were there? This doesn’t look like one man’s doing.”
Injury Starters
With a palpitating heart that threatened to break out of his ribcage, an array of wounds that brought in a severe amount of pain, and a cloud of anxiety that fogged his composure, Shinso was at his worst. Both mind and body raced whilst turning sharp corners in the labyrinth that was this city. Luck was only being kind when the boy hadn’t happened to confront dead ends, as of now. Here he was, being a lab rat that made his getaway from the pent up anger of the intolerant.
No matter how desperately he would try closing the door of the past, it knocks at the entrance of today in the form of yelling voices, voices that did nothing but shout menaces, menaces that would center around his quirk. It was always his quirk, wasn’t it? How much hate and disgust it attracted to society, it only gave more reason for the brainwasher to be a hero. He dares to take a peek back only to be terrified by the emptiness that filled these alleyways and the echoes that darted in his direction. Each minute worsens as the insults increase in volume. And suddenly his head gains the ability to fear for the worst; Are they getting close? Am I getting slower? Will I be able to make it out of this? Or will I simply be another victim?
And then the train that was his thoughts ends in a collision; he bumps into another.
Shinso feels himself being pulled down by gravity and his back suffering for it. He wastes no time in wincing as pain stung him like a million needles. No, not now. His fight to stand up shows when he starts with the small steps of taking peeks. It was until the ears that heard so much hate registered the sweet sound of a familiar voice that his eyes burst open, now processing, trying to accept, that before him stood a student. It was them. Dread knows no bounds when he looks up; it sinks deep in Shinso, the lifeless gleam his optics tend to carry suddenly became defined by sheer horror.
“ … Annie!”
Their name is like a fugitive making their escape –desperate and quick– as it breaks past his lips. A single yelp of their name aspired to fend off every ounce of the others concern; time was precious at this very moment. Shinso battles with struggle. He quavers when he would exercise his muscles to make himself stand. It is without a doubt that he stumbled like a drunken soldier once he miraculously got on his two feet. However, grace is non-existent; his hands practically slam themselves on the blonde’s shoulders so as to keep himself grounded. No matter the amount of pain, no matter how difficult it was to speak in full sentences, Shinso was stubborn. If he wanted to be a hero, he will start by saving Annie.
“Annie, you must … leave-”
