Does anyone ever get that thing where you know your life is meaningless and you'll never live up to the expectations of your parents or society and you're going to die alone because your bloodline ends with you and you don't feel close to anyone and yeah it does get you down but you also kind of don't give a frick?
Like, I'm an asexual possibly also aromantic nerd who's going to play Skyrim all weekend and eat chicken strips bc I'm a grown woman and I still live at home but I'm living my best life?
Why does everyone but me seem like such an adult child.
Also, probably another thought why I could be unattractive is that I still live at home. I'm a 33 year old woman, BTW.
Yes, I know within the last 5 years or so due to Covid and the economy and such, the whole stigma about adults living at home has definitely become more understandable. I'm pretty sure the "adult kid who lives in their parents basement" was a cliche even in the 80s. Also, funny enough it was always seen as a "mostly male" thing. You didn't see many women portrayed as still living at home. Probably why it made me feel like a freak.
Heck, even back in 2008 when I was 16 was impossible. I wanted to go to uni!! But since the fees spiked that year, that was a bust. So I'll just go straight into work, right? Become a career woman?
Haha. Ha. Ha.
Even back then, I would trudge back in from job interviews after doing at least five a week because the dole would be hounding you otherwise if you're a second late, no benefits for you! I was 16 and being treated like I was a scrounging criminal. Ugh. Think I was on Jobseekers for like two years. Never again.
And of course, I'd still get screamed at by my mum for "not being like so-and-so's daughter! So-and-so's daughter just bought a house and has a PhD and did a gap year and has a husband and kids!! Why can't you be like so-and-so's daughter??"
So yeah, it's not just being unattractive physically, lol.

Day One Thousand and Twenty Three
John Henry was a little baby Sitting on his papa's knee Well he picked up a hammer and a little piece of steel Says this hammer's going to be the death of me Hammer's going to be the death of me Hammer's going to be the death of me Hammer's going to be the death of me
At age 30 I still don't understand wtf anything is. Oh well, time for more Fallout 3.
Mateo is my kryptonite.
I have a type and it’s guys like him - artsy, goofy and 100% committed to being goofy but also thoughtful, pays attention to the people they care about, sweet and earnest. I love reading alphaholes in romance novels but IRL, the Mateos make me swoon.
But those types have some seriously debilitating Manchild/Peter Pan problems and I am dealing with enough of that as an overgrown Womanchild myself. I can’t drag myself and him kicking and screaming into adulthood. It’s a real problem lol.
