SUDDENLY Barry for @flyingttoast 🥣
And I think her humanization still in good shape and she's string, cuz muscle car, yeah
You know what I find messed up and racist in itself with people who bring up Vaggie saying that she is a racist stereotype of a angry Latina because it ignores why she's angry in the first place. Now I feel a certain way about this because as a black woman you get angry in any kinda of way your a angry black woman now, you can't have black women characters who have strong emotions which yes has changed over the years to where you can have see them having more emotions and why they feel this sort of way.
Growing up I was so scared to show so many of my emotions to people who wronged me or did something that was awful to me or my friends or to even strangers. Because I didn't want to be that stereotype, it's the focus on the emotion and not what caused it or the understanding on why a poc is feeling this way is racist it just ignores why they are feeling this way in the first place. It makes their feeling seem unreasonable, and useless it is a means of dismissal of the actions that caused the feelings in the first place.
Art block...over??
Had the urge to draw and ink, today...the first time I've been able to do art (other than writing) since October.
Working on references for my WOC OCs so I can commission people for art ^_^. Figured I'd start with Annette and Otis (Doc's mom and granddad).
I have pencil drawings of Ghost and Sam...but Imma have to tweak their designs a bit, Sam's especially because the KR11 had a double reduction rear axle....which did not make it into those initial sketches.
MIT Chapter 8 is in the final rounds of editing. Should have it posted in a few days.
Cheers!
Bonus: Rewatching every episode of Bronies react while I work. I feel like I've been transported back in time like 10 years.
Unhinged Cars or Planes Headcanon Wednesday: Doc's early history with Radiator Springs
Sorry for a short UCoP entry this week. I've got a larger one about the factories and the Manufacturers in the works, so keep your peepers peeled for that one.
I'm so busy and stressed out with irl things rn, it's hard to do anything other than just exist. Still working on WOC geology part three. Still working on MiT chapter 6. Ghost's dialogue is a NIGHTMARE to write AND I've made enough changes to his character and the circumstances that brought him to Dawsonville that I've had to rewrite--and will have to rewrite--most of what I'd already written in my first draft.
Anywho, here's some more praxcanon:
Doc moved to Radiator Springs in 1956 and enrolled as a student at the Mechanical School of Carburetor County (MSCC) that same year. He rented out an old garage next to Flo's, and would only leave to grab a bite to eat or go to class. Initially, he was afraid someone would figure out his true identity. But after a few semesters, the workload from trying to earn two degrees at the same time was so nightmarish that he rarely had time for anything other than studying and class...until a smitten Mercury coupe began stopping by after his patrols to bring him food and to check in on him.
*note* Sheriff wasn't just smitten. He was SMITTEN. Like, the a textbook example of love at first sight.
After getting his doctorate in internal combustion, Doc would exhaust the entirety of his savings--literally every cent he earned racing--to build the Ornament Valley Mechanical Clinic. Ground was broken on May 12, 1960, but construction wasn't actually completed until March 5th, 1961.

Annette Longhauler Ref. Sheet
In my WOC headcanon, Annette is Doc's mother. She helped her father run the family garage in Dawsonville, GA from 1930-1954.
*note* trying to capture her actual color using a digital pallet is HARD. She is painted in Dartmouth green...which can look black in certain lights and from certain angles. The green that I eventually colored her is the best I can sample from real photographs of actual cars painted in this color.
If you wanna learn more about her and my WOC headcanon, here's a link to the fanfiction that I've been working on for a bit. Cheers!
If you want to know more about Annette and the rest of Doc's family, click on this link.
Otis Glenrunner Ref. Sheet
Yaya! It's finished! I actually accomplished something today.
For folks not familiar with my HC, Otis is Doc Hudson's grandfather. He was a mechanic, and ran a garage in Dawsonville, GA until the late 80's.
If you wanna learn more about him and my WOC headcanon, here's a link to the fanfiction that I've been working on for a bit. Cheers!
Car Show Pics!
Went to a car show, today! Got lots of ideas for WOC ocs and world building. Might do a UCoP Wednesday entry about their purpose in the WOC.
