Border Patrol agents in Buffalo, NY picked up a disabled Burmese refugee, Nurul Amin Shah Alam, and when they realized he wasnt who they were looking for they dumped him at a Tim Hortons on Niagara St without notifying anyone. Amin is blind in addition to having several other physical disabilities. He does not speak english, only the Rohingya language. The family has an open missing persons case with the BPD, but detective Richard Hy tried to close it without finding him. Pressure has thankfully forced them to open the case back up.

"Last night, something truly heartbreaking happened to Ten Lives Club.
Our secondary property in Blasdell — the former 24K Gold building that we own, located right next door to our Main Shelter — was broken into again. This marks one of several recent break-ins at this location, but this was by far the most devastating.
Three individuals attempted to force entry through the front of the building. When they couldn’t get in, they ran around the side, broke a boarded up window area, trespassed onto our property, backed their vehicle up to the building, and loaded stolen items into their trunk. We have camera footage showing the vehicle pulling up, parking, breaking in, and driving away with our belongings.
What they stole wasn’t random.
They stole hope.
They stole generosity.
They stole months of hard work.
Inside that building, we were storing donated auction materials and electronics for our upcoming 25th Anniversary Gala, an event that is critical to supporting the 3,800 cats we rescue and care for each year here in Western New York.
Among the stolen items were:
• A television generously donated for a large auction basket
• Beautifully themed baskets our volunteers carefully put together
• LEGO sets
• A cat tree
• Cat beds
• An espresso machine
• Countless other gala materials staff and volunteers have spent months organizing.
Every single item was donated by someone who believed in our mission. Every basket was assembled with love. Every piece represented support for the cats who rely on us.
We are absolutely devastated. Heartbroken. And angry.
Our team should be spending this time preparing to celebrate 25 years of saving feline lives. Instead, we are filing police reports, reviewing footage, inventorying losses, and redirecting precious resources to replace what was stolen and strengthen security.
We are actively working with local law enforcement. Fingerprints have been taken. An investigation is underway, and we fully intend to press charges if those responsible are identified. Local news outlets, including Channel 2 and Channel 4, have covered the story to help spread awareness.
What makes this even more frightening is the proximity. This building sits directly next to our Main Shelter. While our shelter was not broken into- thank goodness, the fact that these individuals were steps away from the cats we protect every day is deeply unsettling. The safety of our animals, staff, and volunteers is our top priority, and we are taking this situation extremely seriously.
But today, we need our community.
The items stolen were meant to help fund lifesaving work. Our Gala is not just a celebration…it is a critical fundraiser that keeps our rescue operational. It supports medical care, food, shelter, and safety for thousands of cats each year.
