Day 3: Shine/Shadow

The pond was a place of comfort and relaxation for most. Who was Wivien to disagree with it? Soothing sounds of the wildlife swimming and continuing their own existence in peace. The sun receding below the horizon at just the right time and casting itself onto the surface of the water with a golden shade of light. A cascade of colors bleeding into one another in the skies brought more of that...serene and safe feeling. One that she is not too used to.

Her back lays against the cool stone with her face towards the heavens. Her long legs were only partly in the water and caused a faint hiss as it rushed over her feet in heat. Just enough to quell the insatiable urge to place herself into the pond. She already is more exposed than she normally feels comfortable with; just below her elbows down had her arms exposed to the air, following alongside being her legs from the knee down. And the most important one of all for her: her mask hanged loosely around her scared neck.

Now she never was considered one to be a shadow in the dark that can just meld right back into the black void. Being an eyesore from the constant fel floating up and out of her face, or the claws that she would have to retract most of the time. Especially with her horns poking out of her skull. One could notice her from quite the distance and in her mind it did not bother her one bit. Not the staring, hushed whispers, or the glares from others of what she was once considered being a part of. None of it mattered.

Yet...as she laid on the smooth boulder with about a fourth or more of her skin showing....a deep need to push herself up and reequip her armor and glaives was bubbling from the bottom of her stomach. In such a position most would not consider being out of ordinary felt alien and nerve-wracking to her mind. Showing her expressions and emotions she keeps locked behind walls so freely. Laughing, showing distaste, smiling and crying without the need to hide. Willing to be judged for who she is, not what she is. It was...

Horrifying yet...it was the beginning of a new start to her life.

A small head comes over and blocks her view of the sky that had long turned dark by now. She knew who it was the minute they started heading closer. Always being able to tell who was where and who they are if she had knowledge of their soul in the past. Silver hair and a short braid hangs down around a soft and freckled face with eyes the shade of ice staring at her. One thing always stood out with this being.

Her smile. It shined like the sun that had just fully set not too long ago. Yet with her, it felt like it never settled. Always there and vibrant. Blinding even to an almost uncontainable amount. But comforting and friendly.

"Wivie~! Are ya gonna sit out here all night? It's getting cold! I brought some extra tea from Osh and Alkie!" The gnome tilted her head as Wivien did so often to express confusion or question. "Wanna come and see what I've been working on?"

She took her time to sit up and keep her focus on Lillemane with a small but genuine smile of her own. "Of course I would. Let me just.." Her mind went back to wanting to cover up. To hide. To conform back to her normal. Instead of listening to the constant words, her hands grabbed her armor and glaives with the plan to just hold them before turning and looking at Lil. "Ready to go when you are. Tea sounds wonderful right now."

The gnomes hands came together for her to clap them quickly in succession till turning around and beginning the trek to the Inn she had been staying at. "Awesome! I knew ya'd like some tea! It's really good this time too! I mean-it is every time but ya understand what I mean. It's just REALLY good this time. It's chai!...."

Pound. Pound. Pound. Pound.

All she can hear is the pounding and rush of blood running through her body and her own ragged breaths being accompanied with a whistle of her lungs. As she tries to swallow it feels like all the liquid in her mouth was nonexistent and made her tongue stick to the roof of it. A faint slink is heard as she places one glaive into the dirt and then its twin follows suit. Pound. Pound. Pound. Pound.

Her entire being throbbed in time with her heart beating strong and rapidly in her chest. Wetting her lips she tries and swallow again and gains some moisture returning to her tongue. Pain had been rupturing underneath her rips and inside of her lungs for a minute or so till it has started to heal and begin the renewal process of repairing itself back to the original state. As it did, the whistle in her breaths left and she was beginning to breath somewhat easier. Someone stood next to her as she kneeled. She thought they were speaking but couldn't hear them as she stared at the pile of demons they had just finished slaying. The figure kneels down next to her and slowly brings their hand over to touch her own that was keeping a death grip on her weapon.

"You did great, Sister. For now since it is just you and I, these ones are yours. You've earned it and I'll make sure you don't get too lost in there, alright?"

Her head turned to look at the hand on her owns and instantly pulled it back. She know who this was. She was safe. It is her leader. Trust him. Once she had finally came back to for long enough to respond she nodded vigorously towards him. Under her mask she opened and closed her mouth until deciding against it and kept it shut. With a light touch of a clawed finger reached her shoulder she took a deep breath in.

"Go ahead. I've got you. Feast on your successful hunt."

At the words of permission her legs drag the rest of her body to launch at the demons. As soon as she reached one, she pulled her mask down and began to take chunks out of the felguard's body. Starting near the neck first to take out half of it in one to two bites that ripped and shredded through it like it was not full of muscles, strands of veins and layers of fat and skin. She shifted more to have her teeth become more pointed and sharper so she could continue the rate that she had started at.

When was the last time she ate?

The thought came and went through her head as she began to go through the bodies quicker. Her mind told her that she was starving and in truth she somewhat was. It had been a few weeks since they had gone and hunted for more souls to harvest. Her stomach felt like a never-ending void that could not be filled no matter how much she ate or shoved into her gullet. At some point she started to cough and huff out wheezing breaths as she needed to take a break but she. Just. Couldn't. Even if it wouldn't fill her void, she NEEDED to eat it. Needed to have it all be hers.

A voice that she couldn't place had been talking to her again and when they didn't get the response they were looking for they yanked Wivien away from the half left corpse that she had been devouring way too quickly.

"Alright, Alright. That's enough...Maybe a bit too much but you deserved to be a glutton on this one. Look at me."

He kneeled in front of her while hiding the body behind him to force her to look at him. Blood and fel was smeared and poured out of her mouth as she hacked up a piece that had become stuck in her throat. Once the blockage was out her head faced him as her body sagged.

"There you are, youngling. How was that? Good?"

Her head felt like it was full of liquid and she was swimming in it. A wave of need and a urge to continue to eat reared it's head and she almost acted on it until she thought back. That was enough. He said it was. Listen. Trust him. And so she did. She followed the orders and gave a nod before clearing her throat and wiping at her mouth. "...Much needed." Her mask went back up to cover her nose as soon as she could and took slow, calculated steps back to her glaives.

"I know, I know. Whisper took the last group and Coldin had stolen some of yours last time so...I knew you needed it. Let's get going back. The others should be back by now."

Day 1: Love/Regret

A low rumble of a groan leaves her lips as she does a full body stretch in her own Inn room of the night. As she twists and pulls different muscles to loosen up what she could within her capabilities, her main focus latches onto a chair next to a small desk. It was old and had seen plenty of wear and tear from the amount of scratches and digs into the grooves that stood out starkly compared to its original dark brown hue. Her boots sit next to the chair with her trusted glaives leaning against the desk right next to them. Onto the chair itself was her armored trousers, belt, and chest plate with them sorted in that order. On the surface of the desk was her gloves and bracers; one on each side of the desk in the order they would be put on. In the middle is her mask that usually never leaves her skin. All that is left on her is just her undergarments.

With one last full body stretch she sighs in content and sags a bit in her stance till carefully sitting down onto the bed that looked like it hadn't been touched yet. Without a doubt in her mind she knew that she would not be sleeping; nothing against the bed itself or cause of some condition like she knew many had. If she slept, her control could slip too far too fast and she was not willing to risk it. This will become another sleepless night to blend into the rest of them. A faint grimace came to her lips as she thought about the Innkeeper trying to sell her the one with the nicest bed since he thought she "looked like she needed the sleep."

Reaching over to her bag at the end of the bed she pulled out a decent sized bottle full of her go to choice of alcohol; bourbon. Her nails dig onto the sides of the cork and pulls it out effortlessly. The bottle reaches her lips on instinct as she glugs a few gulps down while not letting a single drop be spilled. Even though it no longer affected her like it did most she still enjoyed the act of drinking. It was a motion of comfort yet she did regret that it didn't give her the same buzz it used to when she was way younger...and before undergoing becoming an elf fused with a demon soul. Small details.

As her mind seemed to gravitate towards that feeling of regret the screams and whispers of thousands of souls that had belonged to demons and others seemed to quiet down. They still were there with a feeling of a buzzing in the back of her skull but it was dialed back by quite a bit compared to the normal volume they spoke. One presence overtook them all yet did not speak. It kept to itself as if you could feel the stare. Not malicious or with an alternate motive; just blatant curiosity.

What did she regret? Those that she has slaughtered and became caked in their blood? No. Being better at taking commands compared to giving them? No, not that either. Or how about the big elephant in the room and becoming a being full of vengeance at the ultimate sacrifice: her body and soul.

"You know I will never regret that. It was my decision and if I had the chance to change my fate I would always choose it again and again." She muttered to herself quietly while her face was pointed towards one corner of the room with no real person nor item to be drawing her attention. The one she was talking to was none other than one she had trapped and contained in her body.

A sickeningly eerie chuckle reverberated in her head which prompted Wivien to crack a small grin before going in for another sip. No, none of any of that is a regret. She did what must be done, what she believed she had to do and wanted to do. Becoming this was what she wanted to do and chose to. She felt comfortable fighting whether in a spar or one for the death of another. It in a way was her safe spot. Nothing but focusing on the other person while trying to figure out their next move. None of that made her feel any other way than excitement from the adrenaline that would pump through her veins.

She slunk back against the wall and crossed her legs on the bed as she pondered for a moment. Looking back on recent conversations she mulled over them for second till it all clicked back into place.

She regretted never finding love.

Now, theoretically it wouldn't be too hard right? Just go out and talk to people! Yet many made their distain and disgust known to her that she locked that route for herself. Why should she find someone if she wasn't even expecting to live for this long? She has fought for peace and a majority of it has been quelled. There still is some things regarding the Shadowlands that she will at any call go and fight...but other than that? Why does she not relax...she deserves it. Hopefully alongside someone else, whether that be a partner or just a close friend.

Having told herself not to gain attachments to people after the loss of all she loved and knew, it has been hard to realized that she does have friends. They like her. Whether its because she is useful or for who she is, they like her. And she loved them. No matter how hard her mind tells her to push those away from inside she keeps slowly letting one after another try to understand her more. It terrifies her every time she speaks of the past since she does not want to upset nor disturb those she cares about but...some have been more persistent and have shown that it doesn't change their view of her. No matter how ugly or 'cliché' her past may be for her kind.

She has love for those she holds right next to her heart and has only really taken the time to finally notice it now. Rather sooner than later. However romance is another whole thing that she hadn't even understood when she was younger and still doesn't. Yet one of the people she considers the closest to her gave her quite the peptalk and so...with a quick moment of determination she decides next time she goes out, it'll be with a more open mind and squishing down the overthinking as much as she can.

Day 7: Laughter/Wound

The door to her room for the night shuts almost silently as she closes it behind her. With a learned swiftness she makes sure the door is locked and places a small sigil onto the door to keep it chained shut. Just in case. Always have to try and think a few steps ahead in case something or someone decided to try to do...anything really. Honestly she isn't sure why but she does not feel more at ease unless she has done so. And so it will be.

She goes through her ritual of removing her armor and such, albeit this time it is a simple black robe. With crisp folds she places it onto the bed right next to a bag of items. A small box with sticks inside, a small candle, a beautiful glass bottle full of liquid, and some sweets. Noting that she did have everything she paid for, she moved over to the bathroom and began to wipe her lips of the glitter that had been stuck onto them for what feels like hours now. As she takes a few quiet steps back, her head tilts to the right as she looks over herself. The binding runes looked like they were good as always; she keeps track in case she may need to get more placed upon her if she cannot handle her demon. Her clawed nails drag over her neck as she rubs against the large jagged piece of flesh that had been sliced quite some time ago....maybe ten years? More? Time slipped through her hands like small sand particles and she couldn't really keep a track on what day was what unless she was trying to keep it in her mind.

Little clicks come from her claws bumping into one another as she moves it towards her right shoulder. A large scar that encircled right where her shoulder met her arm seemed to still be bright compared to her skintone. Her thumb digs into it and a faint trickle of numbed sensation tickles around where she pressed. Leading the same hand down to her left thigh was one just like it; stark in tone and a large band around her leg. Many more miscellaneous marks had been littered over her body but those three always stood out the most; both physically and mentally.

As if she was dragged back to that fight she remembers the feeling of her arm and leg being grabbed seconds after another. A tight deep damage inflicting grip was on them both until...nothing.

And then everything at once came rushing in.

The quick tug of her flesh being ripped from her body, dislocating and unlatching bones from one another. Muscles being set on fire from the rage of pain that coursed through to the damaged flesh. Adrenaline only doing so much to damper the pain but it felt like it couldn't help at all with her blood spilling in black streams. As a scream tried to come from the depths of her soul, she was kicked with an ungodly amount of strength in the chest. Multiple loud cracks came from now broken ribs and from when her body collided into a nearby rock.

The rest becomes hazy as she knew others of her order came and finally put the last few hits on the...void being. She only knew when she saw the golden eyes of Kardanos staring down at her that they had won. He was speaking to her but her mind couldn't understand nor focus on the sounds being spewed towards her. Her kneeled down and tried to pick her up but only caused a rupture of pain to rocket through the two of them. She knew he would have continued if not for her current state. So her ordered one of the other members they had with them to take her quickly back to base.

Next thing she knows she is being placed down onto a slab on stone that felt nice against her warm skin. Her breaths were slower as she focused on trying to keep control of herself. Those same golden eyes came forth into the room and he kneeled down to look at her face to face.

A lazy and unguarded smile was what she showed him. "Hey big guy...We did it...Right? Did we get him?" Her smile turns to a grimace as she clenches her teeth tightly against each other to try and ride out another wave of pain. A somber look came over Kards face as he let out a faint chuckle. "You should have seen his face, Wivien! Got him in a surprise shot. Ve got him alright...and ve got you and ze others that had been vounded here too."

A wave of pure relief rushed over her and she began to laugh. With that knowledge she had a wave of catharsis wave over her and in result led to her laughing. Kardanos couldn't help but laugh as well till he fell silent. His gaze stared at the collecting blood and he turned his head towards the main opening of the base.

"SELYIN ARE YOU FUCKING READY YET?!! SHE NEEDS TO GO! NOW!"

Wivien knew he meant her. Out of everyone she was one of the most wounded. The Draenei talked to her some more, trying to keep her focus but she couldn't truly listen. The other Illidari, Selyin, finally came in and picked her up with no difficulty. She couldn't fight the touches to her skin even if she wanted to, and the idea was nawwing it's way through her brain. It was strange for her to be in this kind of hold, being held princess style in someone else's arms. Never thought she would be the one carried like that.

As she went through the portal, Wivien's mind came back to the present with a small frown. She would never get that weak again. Never allow herself to get in such a situation unless it was needed. With a quick shake of her head she turns her attention to one of the cake pops and takes it out of the wrapping and plops it into her mouth, letting it carry her away from her past memories with the taste of sweet red velvet cake and cream cheese frosting.

Day 4: Pose/Deception

The worn and ragged dirt path had faint almost inaudible thumps that represented steps descend down its length towards a grove of trees and undisturbed scenery. The world was shown through a black and white palette with the blips of souls popping into her vision. A majority of the time she tries and keep her vision to be more vibrant and full of color. Yet in situations where there is no need, nor no focus on the world around her but those that stand out, she likes to keep it simplistic and easy to see any animals or humanoid creatures. Always alert. Always watching and on guard. Something small and tiny leaps forwards in front of her feet. To her it was but a shimmer of a soul in the middle of a rabbit shaped body. She stops her trek and tilts her head down to put her full focus onto it. Small. Soft. Pure. Some moments of silence pass till the rabbit decides to continue its own trail through the tall wild grass. Her head followed it till she could not notice the small bright drop of a soul.

Continuing forwards her mind wanders in between a cacophony of useless and frankly boring screams and voices. Instead, the rabbit came back into her thoughts. She couldn't tell the colors other than it having dark fur. The image of a brooch blankets over the past pictures and a hum of recognition comes from underneath her mask. Wyllow always kept it around her neck with it attached to a yellow ribbon. The pendent itself was a dark black background with a white carved image of a rabbit's head. When their mother had gifted it to her older sister of a few minutes, the amount of joy and pure adoration she had in her eyes was unmeasurable by any means. She had ran around the house showing our father first, their oldest sister Whisper next, and then Wivien herself last. The brush of the memory begins to paint the picture as if it was just beginning to unravel.

"Wi-Vi-En~! Look what Mama made me!" With the syllables of her name being said, Wyllow hopped closer to her and stood in front of where Wivien had been sitting down on the ground. She plops down and crosses her legs while holding out the item in question to Wivien, making sure not to touch her skin at all. "It is of a rabbit. You should feel it! Mama did really good at the carving."

With a raised eyebrow Wivien quietly reached out and carefully held it in her small hands. Her thumbs rubs over the brooch and feels all the grooves and the smoothness of the background. Golden eyes looked at her and waited patiently yet buzzing with excitement. "Mama did such a good job on it. Oh! Can you help me with putting it on, Wiv? I always get necklaces stuck with my hair in it."

The younger shook her head as she stood up while the other smiled widely towards her. "It is not too hard to find out the routine to make it not get stuck...Here." Wivien walks behind her and with a gentle touch moves her half pony tail half undone hair up and away from her neck. The ribbon is smooth against her fingers as she rubs at it nervously till she brings it around and makes sure to tie it at just the right tightness. Not enough to dig into Wyllow's skin but not too loose to move around too much. "....It should be good for you 'Lo. How does it feel? Too tight?"

As she steps back, Wyllow spins around quickly and shakes her head. "No it is perfect!" Her feet tap against the wooden floor as she runs over to their shared mirror. Her head moves side to side, tilting her head and body to provide a different view to look at. Pose after pose only encourages her smile to grow wider. "Wh-Is-Per~! Come here again! Look!" Not a second later she dashes across the house to find their sister with Wivien in tow behind.

Faint yellow orbs stared at Wyllow and then Wivien before she shrugs and shakes her head with a loud and exaggerated huff. "Uh huh....you want to show it off to me again? I already told you it was...fine." Wivien kept her own gaze locked onto Whisper while the two conversed. She already knew that she did in fact like it...her eyes gave it away. They always did. However she still tried to deceive them both and act as if she was only being mildly annoyed with the pestering.

The rest of the memory seems to fade away into nothing as she returns her focus back onto the present. The canopy of trees seemed to be ending soon in her walk and that meant walking in the rain. A faint sound of a sigh leaves her as she debates on whether she really wants to be a beacon of smoke and sizzling from the contact of the water reaching her armor. Slow steps continued onwards towards the opening no matter the mental argument with herself. One way or another she was going to get to town. Just will need to find a place to settle in town till it passes. Loud pops and the tale-tell sizzling begins to emit from her as she finally is out of the shade of the leaves.

Day 6: Comfort

It had been a good while since their last huge battle. Wivien couldn't really tell how long since she had stopped keeping track of the days since they felled the monster that had been terrorizing a beach off of High Mountain. Not only those people, but the ones fighting against it. She flexed her hand and dug her claws into the palm of her hand before returning it to its relaxed posed before. It felt good to be back in her own body. Being the one who controls it instead of having your friends lock up the demon that had taken completely over. Her gaze went to her wrist as she saw the huge groves of flesh that had been carved out as her body tried to escape its incasement. Now it just was lighter patches of skin that were taking there time to fully heal. Another thing to cover up.

Going back to her normal was a bit harder than she had expected. Then again, it never was an easy task. Returning to a body that had been lacking her normal energy she gained from various hunts had almost sent her into a frenzy when she got back into the driver's seat of her mind. She found her fix and supply of souls shortly after with some help from her brother in arms, Kardanos.

He was the leader of their cause that, after this long and devastating fight, would dissolve away. He is a tall Draenei that underwent the trials to become a Lightforged when he had gained access to it. If you told Wivien she would be best friends with someone who when touched would cause her unbearable pain, she would have scoffed at it. But now...

He is a person of comfort to her. He's loud, boisterous and acts like he is a bit stupid but when he gets serious everyone actually listens to him. Wivien had only grown closer to him over the past....how many years now? Six...Six years. In that amount of time that has felt like eons has encouraged her to be devoted to him. He points, she cuts. He says and she does. It is a welcomed spot of command for her. She would follow him until the ends of the earth and hopes he would do the same for her. Even if he may not be able to really read her as he does others, he always asks and finds out the problem before it becomes one. As her thoughts begin to move from him, she senses that someone is coming into the empty Inn. She knew it was him by the way his hoofs hit the ground and the pattern of thumps they always made on the creaking wood.

"Vell hello Sister! Eet is good to see you! How are you feelink? Good?" Wivien tilts her head back to look up to the Draenei. His horns were curled back and more detailed than they were before his own transformation. Light white hair hanged down around the tops of his shoulders alongside a few tendrils with golden cuffs placed upon them at seemingly random. Golden eyes look down at her with a grin just as bright which she couldn't help but show her own.

"Good to see you, Brother. I am...feeling much better than I was. Got my self a well needed haircut. How are you holding up?"

He had turned around as she spoke and had begun looking through all the different bottles on the wall and underneath the bar. A loud bark of a laugh comes from him. "HA! Yes I vas vonderink vat you were goink to do viz zat. I swore you vere goink to trip every time you took a step!" A few boisterous laughs seem to come from his belly and he let's out a sigh afterwards. "I am quite alright! Hopink to get back out there...after some drinks of course." A bottle was placed in front of Wivien and one was left in Kardanos's hand. "Looks like ze Bourbon hasn't been touched in avhile so more for you~!"

Sharp white teeth shined in the firelight from Wivien as she made quick work of the cork and took a few gulps from her bottle, her Brother following suit. The two of them caught up in the little time they had been away from each other and the conversation dwindled down to just taking drinks and staring into the fire place. Kardanos stood up and placed his bottle back to its place on the shelf and grinned towards her.
