It had been a while since Arthur had seen anybody from the gang, but he couldn’t ignore rumors he’d hear in passing of somebody who sounded familiar that shouldn’t be around. There was no way, he’d seen him get shot. It would be worth the journey if it was him, though he supposed even if it wasn’t he could use some fresh air and a good ride anyway.

It had taken a bit to finally track down where this person might be staying, but it was worth the trouble as he spotted the familiar, if not a bit older and perhaps more frail, looking man. He hesitated a moment before finally saying something before he dared move closer. He was pretty close to being positive the man could still get him if he wanted if he just snuck up on him.

   a new member of the gang with an ounce of english to help him get by with the others and yet somehow the skinny, young mexican failed to ask for seconds when it came to meal time. javier wasn’t one who wanted to seem like a burden and with how much pearson fussed about rationing and weight pulling, he didn’t feel like stirring up the conversation about him being another leech without a purpose. so, javier would still starve throughout the night and until next meal time, usually being in the evening. but it all changes the day hosea comes to sit down at the table with him, unreadable for an old man but oddly intimidating with his aura. he radiated not murder ( although it was underlying ) but wisdom and care. what a very scary, scary thing for javier escuella. the second hosea speaks about javier being finished first all the time, the younger becomes a tad bit bashful and drops his eyes, not bothering to comment on why. he can feel the man’s eyes still locked on him and when he moves, javier watches him curiously.

”You sneaky little shit,” Kelly cursed around a smile, twisting and bound and sore, if only in his pride. 

The neckerchief had no give, the knots surprisingly resilient against his tugging, but still supple against his skin. It was perhaps one of the more pleasant restraints he’d had used against him. Twine and rope itched something fierce and fast rubbed burns into his wrists, somehow even worse than the irons he’d once found himself in on one particularly unfortunate afternoon, biting and heavy and bruising against bone. 

Of course, perhaps the context of today helped ease his misgivings a little more than the material itself, with a handsome man looking down on him he had little to complain about… Even considering their relative positions and even if that damned expression was almost enough to curdle his satisfaction some. 

“I think you’ve made your point,” he muttered from below, still not without some good humour at the mess he was in. “You finished havin’ your fun?”

Wes brought the small glass Hosea had presented him with to take a whiff of the liquid it held. It had some KICK to it. Enough to make his nose burn. Pulling it away with a whistle as he looked at the other man with arched brows. ‘’Got a bitter SMELL ‘bout it too.’’

Hoxie turned as a shoulder met his own, body moving with the collision to face the other. Ames wasn’t an ill tempered man— but he sat on edge. Knuckles whitened around the gun in his hand and heels absently DUG into the dirt. Ready to act as needed too. But that was simple skill he mastered. Knowing WHEN to act on a matter or not. Already the pardons were being given.
