The holiday quilt is done. Small lap quilt made of reclaimed materials. Fully handsewn and hand quilted. Closeups below for the quilting stitches.

The first in a new series called "Findling" (2026-)

Quotes on found embroidered tablecloths (mostly 100% cotton)

“Findling” is the German term for glacier erratic - a large rock transported by a glacier and deposited someplace other than its original source when the glacier melts.

The pieces of the series are made up of tablecloths donated to the charity organisation I volunteer at. Since they had been stored in a cardboard box in a cellar, most of the beautifully embroidered tablecloths in the box had heavy signs of ageing (yellow lines, spots, etc.) and therefore would have had to be thrown away by the charity shop. I took them home, washed and treated them and added some embroidered quotes of my own that i had collected over time via Pinterest, tumblr and other parts of the Internet.

By keeping the cloths alive and repurposing them, I wish to keep the memory of the unknown person alive who embroidered al the flowers and other motives on them, while bringing them into a present through the addition of “pebbles” from memes, quotes, random inspirational or snarky comments online.

Just took my multiple attempts but here it finally is. The pattern is actually really well written, I was just too stupid to read properly. Can heartily recommend:
