Molecules, Magic and Misunderstandings
Molecules, Magic and Misunderstandings by Rex_Writes Rating: Teen and Up Word Count: 7k
Castiel is a novice plant witch who spends his days tending to his greenery and to his bookshop. It keeps him busy enough that food is often the last thing on his mind - but lucky for him, his best friend (and secret love) Dean Winchester brings him lunch every day, keeping him fed in more ways than one. Finally, Castiel gathers the courage to confess his feelings to Dean, only somehow it goes all wrong. Dean disappears, leaving Castiel lunchless and lonely in his bookshop, wondering if Dean will ever come back - and how he will ever be able to make things right between them.
One of my all time favorite AU tropes is always going to be Friends to Lovers. While there is a lot to be said about a classic Meet Cute, Friends to Lovers comes with an extra layer of trust, more yearning, a degree of pining that Meet Cute’s just can’t achieve. This week’s fic hits the mark in every way.Â
In this story, Castiel learns that he’s a witch with an affinity for plants, a life he’s happy to live out in his bookstore with frequent visits from his best friend Dean. Sometimes Cas gets so involved that he forgets to eat, a trait I think many of us can relate to. Thankfully Dean is happy to keep Cas well fed, a ritual that leads to a very sweet first kiss that can only be topped by the second one.Â
This is a sweet little story to kick off the weekend so don’t skip this one!Â

Sam is a researcher at heart, a man of letters. He believes in that which he can study. On the other hand, it’s hard to be skeptical of the outrageous and supernatural when his big brother Dean is hunting a demon and his lover Castiel is a witch.

I’ve Written Something!! And there’s a super long backstory to it...
So, about a year ago I found a blog on here that featured Captain America x reader fics. I kinda don’t love reader fics, but these were REALLY GOOD (I don’t know what happened to them though, because I can’t find the Tumblr anymore). That inspired me to try my hand at a reader fic of my own. So, I wrote the first draft of this last October, as a reader fic set in the Avengers universe with some ideas borrowed from AHS: Coven...and then life got busy and I tossed it aside until quarantine hit.Â
Going back through my works-in-progress, I found the fic, and started working on it again. So, since March, I’ve been regularly updating this piece, but I never felt like I could post it. And then I realized: I couldn’t post it because it was a reader fic, and I’ve long since moved past that dynamic. So I updated it to be Destiel.Â
So, here’s a fic that was originally a Reader fic in the MCU, which is now a Destiel fic in a kinda-canon Supernatural universe, but not really because we deal more with witches and old gods than angels and stuff.Â
It is, of course, ABO, since I never write anything else, and there is an element of “forced bonding,” but that stems from a machine trying to create a bond, not anything violent or sexual. In fact: THERE IS NO SMUT IN THIS PIECE!Â
So, if you’d like to read a wacky fic that hops all over the place with fandoms and shit, here’s the link for We Never Stood a Chance.
Enjoy!

The Magical Monster Mash
On ao3
A ficlet written by sapphirecobalt
Rating: Teen & up
WC: 1,243
Warnings: N/A
Tags: Witch Cas, Familiar Dean, Creature fic, Alternate Universe - No Humans
Excerpt:
Dean hopped off of Cas' lap and onto the table and grabbed some candy in his mouth before jumping off the table and delivering it to the siren in question. The little siren and his older brother watched as Dean walked up to them. The little boy seemed apprehensive and Cas felt bad. Perhaps he had gone too far with the scary decorations? He wanted to make the little siren feel better and remembered sirens loved music.
He closed his eyes and pictured what he wanted to happen. His eyes lit up and he felt the magic coursing through his veins as he cast the spell.

The casting ended as the sounds of the cartoon human heads adorning the plastic table cover sang.
Wow, I didn’t realize till now how much I have missed working on this fic.
I’m sorry my child, I love you.
And yes, I’m in love with this art thanks to amazing @dixseptdixhuit
Reminder:
Chapter 12 coming up this Saturday!!!
Are you still taking prompts? If so how about domestic/fantasy AU, Destiel? Thanks!
Dean always accompanies Castiel when he goes to pick herbs. There’s no need for it, as the woods around their cabin are warded against evil, but Dean is protective and Castiel enjoys indulging him.
He’s in wolf form as they go out, running ahead of Castiel to burn off some excess energy. He returns to Castiel after a couple of minutes, trotting alongside him, and Castiel takes the opportunity to watch him.
Dean is an impressive wolf: thick, grey fur covering a strong body, a shine to it that indicates a healthy diet, and a set of teeth powerful enough to tear through flesh and bone. His eyes are green, the same as his human eyes, and the only indicator of his otherworldly nature.
As a wolf, Dean is beautiful.
As a human, he is breathtaking.
They reach their destination and Castiel is distracted from his observations. It’s a large clearing, the sunlight shining through unhindered by the crowns of the trees that keep most of the forest in shadow. A large field of St. John’s wort grows at the edges of this clearing, just what Castiel’s newest batch of potions are missing.
He gets to work, paying no mind to Dean, who takes the opportunity to wander off and chase small rodents around the forest floor. Dean has no interest in herbs or potions but that suits Castiel just fine. He doesn’t need an assistant, and Dean is good company regardless of their different interests.Â
Castiel fills two pouches of flowers, taking care not to take too much from any one spot. As a witch, he’s always been taught to keep harmony with nature and not disturb it any more than necessary.Â
Finally satisfied, Castiel stands and looks around for Dean. When he spots him, his mouth goes instantly dry.
Dean isn’t in his wolf form anymore.
He’s lying in the grass, propped up on his elbows with his face turned upwards and eyes closed as he bathes in the golden afternoon sunlight completely naked.
It isn’t the first time Castiel has seen him naked - Dean prefers not to wear clothes when he needs to shift back and forth quickly - but it never fails to stun him. Dean is so lovely, all lithe muscles, long, graceful limbs, and soft skin strewn with freckles.Â
Mesmerized, Castiel approaches him slowly, careful not to make any sounds to avoid disturbing him. Dean’s ears twitch anyway, his senses still those of a wolf. He tilts his head down and opens his eyes, smirking when he sees Castiel.
“C’mere,” he says softly, and Castiel is helpless to resist.
He stumbles a little as he gets down to his knees, feeling clumsy compared to Dean’s effortless grace as he sits up, grabs Castiel’s shoulder and tugs him in.Â
They don’t kiss. Dean tucks his nose against Castiel’s throat and scents him, and Castiel lets him, putting one hand on Dean’s naked hip to steady himself, feeling dizzy at the feeling of Dean’s hot breath against his skin.
After a long moment, Dean pulls away. He doesn’t remove his hand from Castiel’s shoulder, doesn’t ask Castiel to stop touching him.
“We should go home,” Castiel says. “Before the flowers dry out.”
Neither one of them makes a move to get up.Â
