Yet when Kevin looks around his boat, all he sees is a rippling mass of color. (...) Rather than a mix of oranges, reds, golds, and white scales reflecting the sun, a deep scarlet cloud lay beneath him.

The prospect of a new discovery sparks Kevin into action once more. He laments injury to this, but some missteps were made in the name of science. If the damage was too severe, he couldn’t release it, but he would try to preserve it…

Another tug, more forceful, and Kevin strains to reel in his line, suddenly wary of losing a hook to the water if it got caught on something…

But it would be worth it if he could just get it closer to take a proper look—

The weight lightens significantly, and Kevin rocks back with his boat, unbalanced. For a moment, he fears he’s hit his head, because there is now a person hanging off the sheer and frowning at him.

“Please get your anchor out of my hair.”

Kevin stares.

Person may be a generous assumption, on second thought. The correct term is likely creature, but that seems a bit rude when it can talk, doesn’t it? Then it becomes more of a being.

“My anchor,” Kevin repeats.

“Yes,” the fish-person lets out a series of clicks, fins flexing around its ears (?). They hold up a section of hair with fingers that are notably clawed and webbed. Oh, goodness. “The tiny little anchor you threw at me that attaches to your tiny little rope. Now, please.”

Cynthia is the girlie I drew first for reference! In the city she has a dark cloak to hide but she prefers being in the forest sooooooo

Her eyes are purple due to magic (I'm basic lol) and her wings are hummingbird wings!!!

omgggg yes this is a riko/nathaniel mafia au. it was supposed to be a spinoff of woke up on the wrong side of bed originally, but it's probably closer to the set up of the kevjeanriko kev mobwife au LMFAOAO. riko has always had a fascination with the butcher's son, envies him even, wishes he got the opportunity to learn from the butcher instead of his ungrateful and worthless imitator. years later the new butcher is in ichirou's service, but riko has never stopped wanting things that aren't his to have..

“We'll be seeing a performance by Nathaniel Wesninski.”

Whispers erupt amongst the hall. Riko remembers a time when Nathaniel Wesninski was the entertainment. It was always his favorite act, watching Nathaniel bleed and scream. Oh, how his hands itched to grab the knife for himself. But the Master always ordered Riko to lay low, to bide his time. (...)

1) Yes. jean is/was in love with kevin :) (< smile of immense pain)

like father like son for sure!!! like wymack, jean is hopelessly lost on someone who is just as emotionally tangled abt them, but it's too much to deal with, the time isnt right, and their love pulls away. kayleigh and kevin are SOOO similar in this regard it's kind of sickening. especially considering how little of kayleigh's love kevin got to see. i think learning she acts like her mother too in this area would make her insanely ill LOL

kevjean isn't quite at "im having your child but told you that you arent the father" levels of . whatever wymack/kayleigh had going on, but the mental denial and only acknowledging the intensity of the feelings, without grappling with the connotations or root of them, is the same as ever

2) as to whether kevin knows,

she knows like the sun knows the rise in the east and set in the west. it's not a conscious thought to her, more of an inherent understanding abt her relationship w jean, that she won't address or look at directly, because it would destroy her and whatever little mental stability she has when she doesn't think about the nest.

kevin is suppressing so much abt jean it's insane, almost on the same level as how much she avoids thinking abt riko directly because it's too much. riko is a threat, yes she's terrified beyond measure, but she's so numb to it too, and andrew made a deal with her.

but who's going to protect her from jean when they see each other again? riko, the only person who has even a glimpse into their relationship, is also the person who uses it against against them. and really, who is protecting jean from her?

because it's clear to kevin that she's an active danger to him. establishing any sort of closeness to jean has always made his life worse, he acts illogically and emotionally if she's threatened , even to his self-detriment, and kevin's always the one slipping up, accidentally revealing she and jean spoke french to riko, making things worse for jean by mere association because riko.... . well he's very hierarchical and strict....., so kevin kept jean in line, but that gave him a misunderstanding of the situation, because riko is the one he needs to listen to, not her...... she was too soft, too forgiving, too emotional, and look where that ended them up. she won't make the same mistakes again.

my beloved and emotionally repressed kevin actively keeps jean's name out of her thoughts because thinking abt him for longer than 0.5 secs makes her wanna curl up in a ditch until she rots like she deserves (character's opinion ≠ author's opinion).

Something was rotten inside of Andrew, and everybody knew it. What started as quiet became naughty became violent, disturbed, psychotic. But it’s only when he arrives at Palmetto that a diagnosis is finally correct.  Monster comes to life in the headlines, from his teammates’ mouths. What a perfect fit. Someone should have come up with that one sooner, really. It should be intoxicating, and yet.

ONE MONTH LATER i finally answer ur query hehe. and u can certainly ask abt all of them mwahah

yes flies 2 honey is my twinyards hansel and gretel au! it was inspired by this prompt i saw a while back like, "the fae of the forest receive sacrifices and give you gifts in return" but how someone tries to trick them, it wont work out. so i thought abt tilda trying to give up her baby to the forest, and the forest gives her 2 babies instead because her 'gift' was not genuine...

She looked into the eyes of the child and left him to the monsters and the trees and whatever lay in between. When she returned to the forest the next night, stumbling through the dark, haunted by the wails and cries that nobody else seemed to hear, only to find two identical little wriggling bodies laying in the leaves, skin still wrinkly and pink--- She let out a scream, and the two babes joined in, a chorus of their voices. Tilda Minyard was stuck. 

years later she's ready to try again for good this time, but the twins leave and end up at a lovely older woman's house...

She was good. So good. Aaron had never met a mother who was like her. He was suspicious, and wondered why Andrew couldn't see it too.
