What do you think of a dragon somehow being able to fly without wings, like with magic or something?
I generally really love the idea of that!
The main example I can name is the Chinese dragon, I think. They are able to fly without wings and look super awesome doing it!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the reasoning behind heir ability to fly is the fact that they're spirits! So they don't need any wings to begin with. They can soar along with the wing like a snake can slither through grass.
But of course, magic could also very well be a good reason for a dragon to be able to fly without wings. The possibilities are endless. Though if a very big, bulky dragon has the ability to fly without wings, that would look a bit silly. They could of course do it, but they'd have to be very powerful to be able to channel so much magic for a long time.Personally, magical flight would really be cool for lightweight dragons as they won't exhaust themselves while channelling so quickly.Â
All in all, I love the idea of wingless flight as it creates even more design possibilities! You won't have to pay attention to wings, their size and position at all, haha!
