Hello!! Two questions that have been rattling around in my brain!
I love your designs and how you have traits carry over through families, so I was wondering if Willowpaw got her gray coloration from somewhere? I know she’s just canonically gray and you had to work with that, but I was curious if theoretically one of her grandparents were gray and it just skipped a generation or something!
And my second question: since we won’t be meeting Shellkit before the end of PKS, I’ve gotta ask if he’s named after the iconic apple snail shell. That would be so cute.

As for your questions -
Willowpaw’s coloration, to be honest I never fully considered it! But yes, she probably had a gray grandparent. I don’t have any headcanon’s for Appledusk’s parents (because there are just not enough canon named cats from riverclan in that era), though I do imagine Foxclaw from the firestar’s quest allegiances as Reedshine’s grandfather and he’s a pretty rich red color. I could see it coming from Appledusk’s side since he’s more of a dull color. Yeah I know that’s not how cat genetics work but Willowpaw’s already a genetic anomaly in that respect, and I generally don’t follow realism in genetics anyways XP

Willownose! She is not actually a character in Mapleshade's Vengeance, as Reedshine is still pregnant at the end of the novella, but she and her siblings Applefrost and Shyheart are the canonical kittens of Reedshine and Appledusk. She is mentioned by succession in Crookedstar's Promise during Mapleshade's rant about why she is tormenting Crookedstar, where she reveals she is the spurned lover of his great grandfather. Otherwise she does not ever appear on page! but here she is, a grey CrookedGrandma.
