I honestly agree.

The scheduling conflict explanation makes sense for why Lonnie couldn't have a larger role in Descendants 3, but I do think they could've found a way to include her, especially if her other show had already wrapped before filming on D3 finished.

Even if they couldn't work her into the actual plot, having Lonnie appear in the final Break This Down sequence would've been such a simple but meaningful way to acknowledge her. She was one of the original core characters, had a really important arc throughout the franchise, and had earned her place alongside the rest of the Auradon kids.

It would've taken maybe a few seconds of screen time to have her dancing with everyone, and it would've made the ending feel more like a genuine farewell to the whole original cast rather than quietly leaving one of the established characters out.

And honestly, Lonnie being there would've been especially fitting considering how much she represented the next generation of Auradon. She wasn't just "Mulan's daughter" standing in the background. She had her own identity, friendships, ambitions, and storyline.

I.e., which characters from alt canon sources I would use if I was writing a big fic and which ones I would write over or drop altogether.

(Alt canon meaning the books or the cartoon, both of which are largely ignored by the movie trilogy, which I'm considering primary canon.)

Freddie Facilier: Keep. I love sisters in media, esp positive relationship sister rep, so I think I'd keep Freddie to give Celia another family member that loves her. Also fits with my interpretation of the Faciliers as one of the few happy families on the Isle.

Hadie: Delete. For his name alone, like geez. Also I think Mal makes the most sense to me as an only child. It adds to the isolation tendencies she displays throughout the films.

Ginny Gothel: Delete? Mostly because I don't think I'd have the mental fortitude to unpack what the Isle + Mother Gothel's very specific brand of bad parenting would do to a person. She's one of the few villains we see as an actual mother in the source material and . . . she's one of the hardest to watch, imo. Her villainy is too real world.

Lil Shang: Keep, but holy shit that name has got to go. Lani doesn't strike me as an only child. I like the idea of her parents having a son as well and raising the two of them very similarly.

Anthony Tremaine: Keep? I suppose. Dizzy isn't a character I think of very often, so I don't think of her family much either. It would be a role worth unpacking though. I'd like to see how Chad would respond to his parents' enemies' child if it was someone potentially more threatening/intimidating than little Dizzy.

Jordan: Delete. I am . . . confused by the concept to say the least. Genie was turned back into a human by the end of the first movie, and even if he hadn't been, I don't know how a genie would have a kid? And I don't think "genieism" is genetic? At least not in Disney's Aladdin canon.

Zevon: Keep, mostly because it would force me to watch The Emperor's New Groove to understand what his deal is, and I'm way overdue on that.

Ally: Delete? I know very little about her except she's Alice's daughter but like . . . Alice is just a girlie pop who had a wack ass dream once because Lewis Carroll was either making some obscure political message or imagining what a psychedelic trip would be like. Point is, Alice is just a girl from 1800s England and her daughter would the same. I don't think she'd fit in with the rest of the fairytale kids.

CJ: Keep. Mmmm female pirate.

Harriet: Keep, I guess, though it's getting harder to explain why we didn't meet any of Harry's siblings in D2 or even get a mention of them. Like the tea better be piping for that reveal.

Artie: Keep. Since they stupified Chad, I think a rival *hero* kid to Ben's Coolest Guy Ever shtick would be interesting.

Claudine Frollo: Delete. Same reasons as Ginny tbh. Wayyyyy too much to unpack. She'd have to be either the main character in the fic or woefully underserved. The Hunchback of Notre Dame is not really a kids movie, and I wouldn't put him anywhere near a kid's franchise.

Chester: Keep! He could be just the wack ass energy the fic needs to keep it light. Like Peeves from HP. Bro would be iconic. Like his dad, neither VK nor HK, truly just a drama connoisseur.
