Know The Difference✨
Hey I’ve been thinking about going to Cyprus and stopping by a temple to Aphrodite, making an offering, praying. What do you think Aphrodite/the rest of the gods reaction would be to someone who went to their old temples, offered, prayed etc would be?
As far as I'm aware, there still are and have always been continued worship and followers of Ancient Greek Religion, from (modern) Hellenism, Wiccans, and Neo-paganism in not only Greece but around the world as far as Greek mythology, history, and religion is carried as far as I'm aware. Heck, people still think of the Greek gods and even a casual prayer to a god still counts.
Hence Riordan's point in the books, that the gods are still around us, and their influences on cultures still are present in today, if you know where to look for them. We just mourn the loss of Ancient Greek mythology and its past because a lot of information were retained by each gods' cults, which were basically specified groups of worship to said gods and carried more specific information and culture surrounding said god and how its influenced ancient Greek culture and livelihood. (I.e. the Cult of Demeter having only practiced by female members that were kept secret and respected from the male populace).
That said, I still think Aphrodite and any other gods for that matter, would still appreciate worship at their designated temples of yore; despite all the years of newer influence (Romans, Christianity, Oversea countries dismantling places of worship), maintains the places' importance and influence, hence not only keeping their influence and existence alive, but also keep the memories of the past alive.
Even today, you still see evidence in Greece where ancient prayers and its people that was were, still existing and coming back to life.

PSA: although Welsh/Celtic Paganism isn’t a closed practise it is still important to respect native Welsh traditions and customs. If you want to practise then start by learning about Wales, its history and its people.
