Oh The Weather Outside
@whotie
After visiting her dear friend on Muspelheim it was a great relief for Laerke to find herself back on Midgard. Luck and perhaps a yearning to be near home brought her to the northern reaches of the realm, to the lands her brothers had visited so long ago.
Her breath formed puffs illuminated by streetlights as she walked the streets of the small northern town. The street was lined with shops that were all covered in twinkling lights. As she came toward the city’s center she could hear music and the happy chattering of a crowd. It seemed she had found herself in the presence of a festival. Laerke leaned against the wall of a bakery on the fringe of the square to watch the commotion of decorating and dancing.
“It’s snowing!”
The declaration from a man wearing a bow tie caught everyone’s attention. Laerke looked up with the mortals as the snow began to fall, a smile brightening her face. The flakes were heavy and coated the ring of dancers. Each movement sent the flurries swirling. Each beat of the drums called to her until she simply could not bear to stay still.
“Dance with me!” she cheered as she took the hand of the man who seemed as excited as she was about the snow, the one wearing a bow tie.
