Quentin’s gaze followed in the direction that Claudette was pointing, where he was hoping to see the hatch. It’d seemed like hours now that they’d been searching for it, except it had only been a few mere minutes. They would have to hurry if they didn’t want the Huntress to catch on to what their plan was. With enough time away from generators, it didn’t take a genius to consider the possibility of an alternate escape plan. However, Quentin was mildly disappointed to discover that Claudette wasn’t pointing towards the hatch, but instead a plant.
“Really?” Quentin responded in a rhetorical manner, though he couldn’t help but grin. Claudette was knowledgeable about the properties different plants, trees, bushes and so on held. While to Quentin, it was just...there. He wouldn’t have taken a second glance at it. He was better at finding medicine that didn’t come directly from the earth, but he imagined it was a pretty handy skill to have in this harsh and unforgiving realm.
“Okay. Let’s go get your plant thing, and then we’ll keep looking,” he continued, keeping his voice low. Proceeding through the shack, he peeked around the opening to leave and looked both ways. He didn’t see anyone, but he could hear the Huntress humming her lullaby softly in the distance. Quickly but quietly, he left the shack and hurried over to where the plant was. “So, what are we doing with it?” He wasn’t even sure what part they needed from it. Did they uproot it? Pick leaves from it? Something else entirely?
