Everyone loves a good “Who Done It?” movie. I think it’s a Human Nature thing, like we think we know but do we know? What if it was this person and not that? And don’t even get me started on the why. That is a rabbit hole that I am sure inspired at least another sub genre of film. I have here a couple of films in the mystery genre I think are worth noting!Â
The Beast Must Die (1974)
Found this gem on Shudder, and I am not sure why its on there...(as I thought Shudder was for scarier things, but not complaining). This movie is so 70′s, and I am here for it! Let’s say that werewolves are a thing, and in a suspected group of people...1 in 7 people are a werewolf and they don’t know it, unless all the elements that awaken the disease happen at once. So you gather your group of friends at your secluded country estate and rig it for the best hunting weekend of your life. As a viewer, you are told one person is a werewolf and they will give you a chance to guess before revealing. I had to say honestly, I guessed wrong. Highly suggested.Â
I have always loved this movie, besides my man Tim Curry looking fresh as youth, I always thought it was a clever take on a board game movie. I really only wish that I would of been able to go see it in theatres, and catch the multi ending options with multiple cheaper ticket viewings! But I only have love for this film.Â
I am not normally one for modern...anything...but I thought it was a nice complete thought to see how who done its have made their way into modern viewing. This movie is about a master detective investigating the death of the patriarch of a wealthy, dysfunctional family. It had a good cast, and wasn’t bad.Â
Fun Fact, I have always been a gamer and board games were a classic in my childhood. All these movies are based on Clue, did you know it came out in the 1940′s? Amazing how so many ideas get transformed into completely different things, depending not only on the times, but on the creative mind behind it. Any movies you felt should of been on this list?Â
