The White Tower of Thessaloniki, Greece, was built by the Ottoman Turks in the 15th century on the site of a 12th century Byzantine fort. The Ottomans used it as a prison and site of mass executions.

Were called in 1880 as Tower of Blood when it became a prison and place of execution for convicts, where those condemned to death were slaughtered on its terrace and their blood dyed its walls red, as a cannon shot from the western part of the city signified that the death sentence had been carried out.
