Today I had the opportunity to visit an amazing place I had actually discovered online by surprise soon after I left the AGP NYC this New Year's Day.
Best part is, it's local AND sells AG things that are retired (and some hard to find).
This tiny shop filled with so many treasures is an American Girl-themed boutique called Girl AGain!
It may look tiny when you first come in, but DO NOT underestimate it. It's literally like walking into a real-life eBay, with retired holy grail dolls, accessories, and outfits I had never even seen in person before!
From Historicals, JLYs, GOTYs, and even Hopscotch Hill and Bitty Babies/Twins, there was so much to see I didn't even know where to start... Until I encountered a doll towards the back of the store that had been my holy grail for so many years. But more on her later. 😉
In addition to refurbished AGs, there was also a bin filled with TLC dolls that would be perfect for expert restorers and customizers. I was surprised at how many Samanthas and Felicities there were...
But, one of the best things about this store is their partnership with Yes She Can, an organization that helps women and girls with Autism develop vocational skills and find job opportunities. As someone who is on the spectrum myself, and works at a school that helps students who are on the spectrum as well, this is what truly won me over.
As for what I got and who came home with me? Welp, here she is:
I got GOTY 2005 Marisol, Samantha's sailor outfit, a Bitty Baby jumper, and a vintage Butterfly Brocade dress.
Those who have known me over the years will know that it was always a DREAM of mine to own a Marisol doll, ever since I first got into AG dolls almost 10 years ago. To finally acquire one after all these years is so unreal to me.
The best part is, she's in PERFECT shape, except her eyes are completely stuck and cannot close when you lay her down. But whocurr, at least they're open and not crooked. 😉
If you happen to live at or near White Plains, or you pass by there on the daily like I do, I would definitely stop by the store one day and see for yourself. I saw the owners were bringing in even MORE donated dolls and outfits, so I'm definitely excited to go back there and see what other things they'll have next time.
Thank you guys for finally making my dream of owning Marisol come true!
