Another trip down memory lane ending up at this pretty white and blue cottage, located in Clovelly, Devon, England. I love that this cottage is painted in the color combination of white and blue. There is something so fresh and clean about it. It is a seaside cottage, facing the sea, and its colors perfectly fit into the charming fishing village of Clovelly. Besides its color to me the simplicity of this little cottage makes it just irresistible. I guess, it resonates with my own longing of living a simpler life. What do you think of this one? After such a long break of posting on Instagram (my last post was published in May 2019) it is a little hard to get started, again. I have thought about restarting posting many times but never could muster up the energy to actually do it until now. Why today? I honestly don’t know. Maybe the stars were aligned or my life is finally settling down enough again that I have the capacity to do it or with all the craziness and anxiety related to the Corona Virus outbreak I do feel the need for beauty and sharing beauty because it always helps, right? I always have loved to explore neighborhoods and look at pretty houses and front yards. Last Sunday my husband and I went for a walk outside of our own immediate community for the first time since the lockdown. We drove to Tarrytown, a very beautiful, friendly, and affluent neighborhood in Austin and came across this gem. I instantly fell in love with this house. It has such a homey vibe. Who wouldn’t want to sit on that porch and watch the world go by? Besides that, white is my favorite color, so how could I resist this beautiful white house? The entrance to a house always fascinated me. It creates the first impression, a feel, sets the mood. This one says cute, little cottage to me. I love the white door with all the small windows in the upper half. The slate covered overhang, besides being functional, gives it a lot of charm and all the differently shaped baskets filled with flowers make it so lovable. All in all this is a very unique, warm, and welcoming entry that makes me want to walk through that door and meet the people who live there and see the more of the inside of the house. Don’t you? And isn’t this a feeling that we all want to create when it comes to our own houses no matter what architectural style they are? This photo was taken in Clovelly, Devon, England a few years back. On a completely different note, I would like to thank everyone who left a comment on my last post wishing my dog and me well. I was truly touched. As far as I can tell at this point, Skylar, our Doberman, is recovering well after his knee surgery. I am still worried if goes to plan and if his knee will be fully functional again, but so far so good. We are following a strict rehabilitation exercise plan and by now he is allowed to walk two times a day 25 minutes on leash.
