IxC999 White Ring - 2011
Listen to IxC999 on TIDAL
I first heard this track when I saw it being played on a Swedish breakfast show. Or rather I watched the YouTube clip of this being played on a Swedish breakfast show when I was wasting time between calls at job I had doing first line support. I think the hosts were just not ready for the style of music being played and I found out that day I love deep down and dirty lo-fi beats. IxC999 is a textured wall of foggy sound that you walk through discovering more of the environment the deeper you go. There is a beat that forces full body movement but slow. Slowly. Slower. Slowest. Just let the atmosphere take hold and pull you in. Ignore the shotgun blasts. That’s just background ambience. They can’t hurt you. Come in. Come down. Sink lower with us.
Take me back, I’m not going back, my face is gone. My face is gone. You feel that? The weight of reality forcing you back into a world. A world you have to inhabit. Despite all your protests. You will always be here. You can disappear momentarily in clouds of inebriation and intoxication. That freedom you crave is hidden in a fog of memories, you can no longer touch. You face is gone, you head is frozen and ice inhabits where the hope once lived. You could melt it all down but what would that do? Would you come back, would you take me back? What if I’m not going back. My face is falling and I can’t hold the mask up anymore.
Still pushing through the heavy atmosphere that keeps getting smaller inside White Ring’s world. Shotgun blasts making me jump and synth so deep I can feel my insides moving to accommodate the unease ever present. You’re a breakfast show act and I’m listening to anxiety made manifest in sonic form. You’re out of place and out of time. Or is it me who is out of place and out of time? Don’t look at me when I’m coming down. The face is gone and fallen on the ground. Take me back, I’m not going back.
