It's impossible to book anything with a kitchen and a bed that's not a pullout couch for under 600 euros per person for Wave Gotik Treffen in Leipzig coming year.

And I'm just...

I want to go.

But QPP and our other usual travel companion each have a hard limit of 450 per person. So if I want to go, it'll be me (and by extension husband) who foot the bill. If husband also pays 450, that's essentially me left to pay for a whole extra person.

And I may be a system but I only occupy one bed, you know?

It's petty but I'm so fucking tired of being the one to have to fork over money to do stuff, just because I'm the less-broke friend. Not to mention that I'm not wealthy. Just a couple years ago I had to crowdfund to be able to replace my stolen bike. I'm just less broke, right now.

I could do it. I could drop an irresponsible amount of my meagre savings on being able to go to my favorite place in the world. One more time. And then afterwards I would have to accept that I'm officially priced out of being able to attend WGT, because I won't be able to do that a second time.

It hurts.

And it fills me with irrational rage for the city government of Leipzig. For years, it was reasonably affordable to go, if you booked on time and weren't expecting luxury. And then in 2025 they cracked down hard on short term rentals, and now there's nothing good for under 3.5k/week, nor anything even halfway decent under 2.5k/week.

And yeah, yeah, there's a festival camping. I could go camping. I could drag all my elaborate gothic outfits a 1000 km to Germany to then not have a real shower or a decent bit of sleep for a week and bed down every night in a sweaty hothouse of plastic sheeting like a crop of lettuce in a polytunnel. I could do that.

But let's be real. I'm not going to.

I'm camping for Castlefest because Castlefest is a Ren Faire. No one expects hygiene and comfort when they're immersing in fantasy medievaltown. It's also only 1 weekend. WGT on the other hand is a whole week, and it's supposed to be a Real Holiday. My basic requirement for that is *a bed*. Apparently that's the height of luxury these days.

Idk.

I'm just sad.
